This Is Doing My Head In - CLASS ??
I look at horses with a reasonable chance (around the $10+ bracket) in a race going down in class (and with a few other filters incl race starts, last start finish etc) and find that Vic comes up trumps. NSW is marginal at best. I've fiddled with weights and prizemoney to try and find something that works for both states, but the difference between Vic and NSW with the same "class" filters is amazing.

Why do you suspect that is ?
Different handicappers ? Different handicapping rules ? Have you compared set weight for age races and are the differences the same ? |

I don't know enough about handicapping, I thought it would be "similar" between Vic and NSW. Up in weight alone brings vastly different results between Vic & NSW Up in weight and down in prizemoney brings vastly different results between Vic & NSW Down in prizemoney brings vastly different results between Vic & NSW |

No they can be very different. For instance the new top weight to be carried in a race will be very different in NSW going forward: http://www.racingnsw.com.au/default...isplay&id=18299 They have different rules between states. Here is a guide to some of the differences: http://www.pureform.com.au/handicap_n1.php I suspect they may be partly to blame for the differences you are seeing. |
