Siesta Park looks a shoe-in the penultimate. Probably start in the red. Might be worth anchoring with in the novelties.

Default Plastered

A simpler operation could have been performed in Perth but was likely to have limited the horse's potential at his pet longer distances.

The surgery is likely to keep Plastered out of racing for at least a year.

The worst case scenario is that the 2004 Victoria Derby winner's career is over after nine wins in 15 starts and stake earnings of $1.55 million.

Read that a smaller operation (tie back the larynx) hasn't been completely ruled out and if they go down that path Plastered may only be missing around 6 months.

If they opt for that a smaller operation and were 100% successful it would mean the option of the 2006 Cup would not be out of reach.

Exclamation

Trainers of Covertly, Daka's Gem and Ellicorsam have indicated that a start in the Railway Stakes hinges on their horses performance in this Saturday's Lee-Steere Stakes.

Thumbs up Philatelist

I like the chances of Philatelist in R3 Pinjarra today. Only lightly raced has run good 2nds at Hawkesbury over 1800 & 2000. Did OK 1st run in WA and the extra 200 of today’s race will suit ideally.
