Hi Jimbob.

I'm one of the directors of OZmium Pty Ltd, the company that owns this forum, and I play a reasonable amount of online poker.

I don't have an 888.com account per se, but I used to play a lot at Party Poker and they have now been taken over by 888.com and semi-rebranded 888.com Party Poker. I still find it quite a good site.

Most important at the moment is that 888.com seem to have a lot of financial muscle, as apart from their poker they have huge cashflow from their online casino brand. This is very important since 'Black Friday' in the US, when the executives of several major online poker sites were arrested for allegedly contravening US law.

The fallout from Black Friday led to the collapse of one of the biggest poker sites in the world, Full Tilt, who 'temporarily' closed, freezing the accounts of tens of thousands of players containing hundreds of millions of dollars. I myself have a significant sum of money in limbo, possibly lost, with Full Tilt.

So I would have no hesitation in recommending that people only play poker at sites with very large and solid backers, whose eggs are not all in the poker basket. 888.com fit the bill, as do Betfair, William Hill and others who have non poker businesses to spread the risk. Also the world's biggest poker company, Pokerstars, have dealt honorably with their clients and carried on trading, despite also being hit hard by Black friday.

On our websites we carry ads for both Pacific Poker and 888.com Party Poker, and the other brands I mentioned are easy to find with a search engine. Good luck!
