Default Im frustrated today... stupid minimum bet sizes

I'm just venting because I am frustrated today.

I have a sports system which is very profitable. Unfortunately it is a long shot method and right now I need so much more money to trade it on betfair with every selection. I have to limit my top odds due to minimum bet size which massively reduces the number of selections.

The minimum bet size of $5 is just crazy when your trying to lay a selection that is $200 or higher. That's a liability of 1K and for that I would need a punting bank of 50K which mine is not up to yet (based on 2% risk).

Before anyone says use SP there is no SP on sports such as tennis, soccer, etc. Its only on horse racing.

Just frustrated that so much money is being left on the table when I should be getting it.

Oh well... I'll eventually get there and writing down my frustrations at least helps a little bit.

UB I have tested systems for years using stakes under the $5min, as low as 5c lays, without any warning etc from BF, I guess because at the same time my usual betting continues on.

So I wouldn't be too worried about using a bot to get those under min bets on.

Can you lay if for $5 and then back it for $5.05?

Sorry I see you're trying to lay a 200/1 shot or higher.
Never had a problem when using a bot.
It's the backing under $5 they won't entertain, so I use the above method.

I was laying under $5 minimum but I got the warning email and those were the only ones I was laying under the $5 minimum stake except for the occasional trade out of a position. I don't want to push it and get a second warning and then a ban so I just have to suck it up and live with it.

Unfortuantely the markets I want to do these in do not have SP. Otherwise I would use that for sure.

Laying and backing may be an option to reduce the liability. I will need to look into that as that might be a viable option for me but I need to check the loss from the lay/back combination at different odds doesn't erode the profit. Thanks for the idea CP.

Interesting you got a warning for laying under the minimum, never had one of those. Might be you were doing lots of little ones and no big ones?
When I was laying the field, I had numerous lays under $5.00 and many in the cents range without warning.

No it wasn't that many. It would have been less than 5% of my bets under the minimum staking size. I talked to the support guys on the phone and they wouldn't confirm it in writing but they indicated one of the reasons I was sent a warning was that they looked the other way until you started generating a certain profit each week and I was now above this threshold.

There isn't much I can do about it except accept it and do my best to meet the T+C's and not get banned.

I have done an analysis on backing and laying. ie Lay to a liability of $1000 and back to a liability of $950 so that I am only risking $50 and it still shows an acceptable profit. This means my turnover is going to double but at least its on sports overseas which means no turnover tax implications.
