Good to see you posting UB, and 100% S/R. Re: MR5-19, no way could I lay that one though got shuffled back last run, and 3 runs prior as follows:

2nd last run beaten .5 length
3rd last run beaten 1.6 lengths
4th last run beaten 2.6 lengths

I find the method I use is good enough to get a few % profits over time but its slow progress.

Quite a few of these were above my maximum odds . But even without that sitting at 100% Strike Rate still (you would expect that with these odds so that isn't exactly a flex lol ).

Difference between us is that I'm looking for long shots that could win, whereas you're looking for long shots that can't.

well, I've had a few spectacular wins especially with BF, but it can be a long time between drinks, I suspect in your case the opposite?

yep steady profits and then a short time of absolutely horrible runs that give back a good percentage but overall it works for me and I make a long term profit.

I forgot to post them here after the live stream but was in a bit of a rush this weekend.

I still have a 100% strike rate (not bragging as its long shots and it should be expected) and have made back $30.34 on a $30 liability at BSP if you stuck to the value odds. If you took all selections it is up $42.02 assuming 7% commission.

This live stream I dropped out some info on my overall number of selections, why I prefer laying to backing and why NSW Tracks are usually going to be in favour of the backer instead of the layer. I also provided a simple +EV approach that can be automated.

G'Day UB, you must be still reeling from Saturday SR2-15??? I didn't post straight away for obvious reasons, but YES I backed it, and not only that but I backed it on SB at enhanced odds of $138.

OK, so why did I back that ? well here is it's last 4 runs:


Last run .8 L from winner carrying 55.5kg
2nd last run 3.7 L from winner carrying "60KG"
3rd last run .5 L from winner carrying59 kg
4th last run 1.4L from winner carrying 59.5 kg

Todays weight 54kg and Reese Jones up

You can see how different strokes for different folks, but of course for me sometimes long time between drinks.

I don't expect to get it perfect but glad you had the winner. I didn't notice the margins but given what they were I should have not selected it but when doing form manually you sometimes make a judgement call and the favs in that race were pretty good so I let it through as a selection.

The overall profit is sitting at $6.36 on a $30 liability if you stick to the odds and $19.12 if you take all of them. This is with 7% commission rate at betfair although I do know there will be a few people on less commission that that given the betfair plus turnover benefits.

UB, yes with this one we are at opposite ends kind of, but looking for long shots I tend to look for horses that have ran close up especially for say the last 3 or 4 runs without winning, you know what I mean knocking on the door, and especially with a decent Jockey on board.
Needless to say much of the time I'm nowhere near but when it strikes it can be lucrative, in this case SB had early on @ $126 which caught my eye straight away but I had an odds boost available so..... bingo! lets hope for some more!

Hi UB, didn't check the last lot but I suspect 100% SR? what I might humbly suggest an additional filter, i.e. take that last one that I actually backed it finished .8 of a length from the winner last start, I think that I would be a brave man to lay it next start, not that I mean it is going to win but just that I wouldn't lay it at whatever it was (at least 200-1 I suspect) just a thought maybe add a filter say, delete if finished within say, 2 lengths of the winner last start? don't really know if that would eliminate enough to make a difference , but maybe?

PP yes 100% success strike rate for Sunday.

These tips are not automated so they are all an assessment for the race. There are no rules as such but just guidelines of which all can be broken :)

Hi UB, yes I realise where you're at and of course you must be doing something right as I certainly couldn't get to the level of turnover that you do.

My PPM system (daft as it is) pinpointed several winners that were quoted at 1000-1 on bet fair, the thought of laying them brings on convulsions, I couldn't handle it at all.

Out of interest, how many have run a place?

I haven't kept records on the placings but not many. I would think around 5%-10% are running a place. I watch most of the races and I can't really remember one at all.

Mark I looked yesterday and out of my selections I am running less than 3% running a place. These would likely be good lays in the place market but I am not monitoring it.
