Jeff Lloyd
Jeff Lloyd has become only the second jockey in 160 years of Queensland racing to ride 100 metropolitan winners in a season.
Mick Dittman took 33 years to ride a season-best 97-1/2 winners in 1979/80 and break Bill Briscoe's then record for Brisbane of 86. Chris Munce took a further 31 years to break Dittman's record. Munce set the Brisbane metropolitan record of 103 winners in 2011/12. Lloyd has taken only 7-1/2 months of the season to get to 100 and within reach of the record. Lloyd also leads the Australian jockeys title on 131 winners and the Qld state title on 130. Courtesy aap |
Jeff also created a bit of history late last year
Rode 7 winners at the Sunshine Coast, bettering the previous record for most metropolitan wins in a day Lloyd landed 7 of the last 8 winners, including the last 5 on the program |
