Good Onya XPT, your having a big one at Port. Put this one in your "black book", my brother put me onto it, all you do is back horse 14 but must start from barrier 14 as per the lists.

Check the result on race 3 at Twonsville. I think this is the 3rd long price winner with that system in the last 7 days.

I had a very small bet on it 2 x 3 collect over $100

Good luck to all.

mad 11th November 2005 03:10 PM

Langfibian $12 at IAS fixed for those interested. Much shorter on TAB $4.

Mr ed 12th November 2005 10:36 AM

Hey guys, it's been a while have been flat out with work. Looks as if you've all been backing plenty of winners, good to see.

Just remembered the forum last night after seeing my girl OPIO MISS finally starting to fulfil some of her potential and thought i'd get on and have a dip.

Anyway today at Mornington there's a maiden a think can win, Rc 2 No 11 Inchcape has been racing quite well in harder races then this, is much fitter now for two runs in and looks perfectly suited by the barrier. I think she looks an outstanding e/w hope.

Good luck today guys, hope we all can out with plenty. Sportz you'll be glad to know i've backed BLUE COLLAR JACK every start this prep, gee he's racing well, must be a small chance aswell today you'd think.

Cheers ED

luv2bet 12th November 2005 10:43 AM

Good to see ya back Ed, certainly could of done with some of your thoughts in melbourne through the carnival, had a shocker there....
Goin through a few more races will post shortly, keen on a few today.

luv2bet 12th November 2005 11:47 AM

My thoughts around adelaide.
Race 1- Not a good race for a bet. If meriwether is right should bolt it in, but the odds are ridiculous. Chilli stoush is the one that could win but wouldnt be prepared to bet against the toppy with lecky on board and the claim.
Race 2- Ill be looking for some value here and going for wyndam power. Can race very well fresh and hayes would have him ready. There looks to be no value around the top 2, so hopefully they come for these and we get nice e/w odds. Starhere is a master over this distance and will be hard to beat.
Race 3- Ill be all over thorton here. A lot to like about his last run where he was doing the best work at the line, extra 100m here suits. Good trifecta race here, ill include wavefront, who was beaten that far last start when the rider lost his whip, arondan, who got in all sorts of trouble in the same race and elmessiah who mixes form but certainly is capable.
Race 4- Going with charmed indeed and ubetibite here. Pretty open race with a lot of chance so should get some value. Charmed was finishing strongly over 1200 behind tivation so should thrive on the 1400 while ubetibite made a lot of ground in the same race. will work around these 2.
Race 5- Will have a crack at reannag here. Has first up form, has been racing in better company, and if he is right will give this a good shake at e/w odds. Dangers would be umaquest and pranceloit.
Race 6- prepared to risk the toppy here and going with leaders pride. Pretty keen here in what is a tough race. Forget its last run never in it, back to a more suitable distance today and should race well
Race 7-confident of open cut continuing on its winning ways here. Barrier shouoldnt bother it too much and will be hard to beat . Include Rosden, rally and nikalapko for the multiples.
Race 8- Will be sticking with major league here, was on him last start and no reason to be jumping off now. Last 2 runs have been very good should be hard to run down

Good luck to all 2day...

Sportz 12th November 2005 02:22 PM

I don't know about that. Look at Race 5 in Sydney. What the hell is going on??? :(

Meanwhile, Mav is killing them. The way he bets, he'll win a million today.

Out of all the races today, this was probably the one that I was keenest on. I was very confident of getting the trifecta and first 4. Anyway, it makes me wonder why I couldn't just cut out all the other losing bets that i'm not so confident about and simply back this one. Stupid really. I'm going to end up betting on about 15 races today when I probably should have cut it down much more than that. How many races do you guys bet on?

mad 12th November 2005 04:32 PM

Know the feeling Sportz, apart from The Jonker during the week i have been flittering it all away on stupid bets. Was on Leading Bid so i am ahead today - just. Should stop now. Like Attadale in the next at Ascot so i might have a go on that, see what happens.

xptdriver 12th November 2005 04:40 PM

Geez it's been a difficult day in Melbourne .... till the last

But I will take 21.6 the place for my 2nd rater in the last :)

I think I was close to backing a 100/1 winner there (no TVN so not sure)

How the hell did they let that go off at 144/1 (NSW TAB) ..

Having said that Zigotto wasnt all bad either

Gday Sportz

Now you have confused me.. I always throw the horses that U bold into my betting.. they seem to go pretty well .. I was sure that u said the bolding ( and I think some even get an * ) implied good thing sort of rating (my words not yours) Am I wrong? Or have U changed the way you do things?

Sportz 12th November 2005 04:56 PM

XPT,

Sorry for the confusion. The ones in bold are the single horses (or in some races 2 horses) that are my best win or each way bets. What I was talking about was that this race as a whole was the one where I was most confident about getting the quinella, any2, trifecta, first4 etc. In other words, I was VERY confident that one of my top 4 selections would win the race and that I'd have the first 4 placings in my selections.

In any case, I should have made things clearer which races I was most confident about. In future, I'll mark them very clearly.

mad 12th November 2005 05:03 PM

Just a real tough day out there today, you get that. Only other runner i had today that was worth a damn was the Hammer. Guess what? I missed the race!

xptdriver 12th November 2005 05:06 PM

Gday Sportz

no probs.... I live in a slightly confused state LOL

Sportz 12th November 2005 05:17 PM

Same here. It's called Queensland.

downbylaw 12th November 2005 05:34 PM

Shocking day here sportz. 13bets 2 wins 11 losses suffered from a complete loss of rationality and chassed a couple of losses. Must have left the brain in bed i think, the two wins only paid $1.85 and one was 100e/w on a country girl which paid $2 the place.
I guess u can only learn from these types of day.

Sportz 12th November 2005 05:39 PM

Bad luck mate. That doesn't sound good. There were some funny results today. It's not like that every week.

downbylaw 12th November 2005 05:52 PM

Sure was it seemed a day for people that go with the names or there fav numbers. I had 4 2nds and 2 3rds so im not too dissapointed as im still consistantly there abouts in the placings. With a lil bit of luck it would have been a much more profitable day but thats racing.
Now i just have too keep reminding myself to increase the amount i bet on the dogs as i have much more luck with them. Sometimes having streaks of up to 8 wins on the trot which has never ever happended with the horses. Why is it though i wont sneeze at putting up to 300 on a horse but poo myself having 50 on a dog???? Doesnt make sense but after the last few days i think things will change.

I noticed you were also thereabouts with your selections and with a bit of luck it would have been a different story completely.

Best of luck tomorrow everbody!!!!!!

XPT,

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

These were the races that I considered the best betting races today ("A" races):
ROSE R2, R3, R6 & R8,
SAND R4 & R9,
ASCOT R5 & R7,

And these were the races I classed as next best ("B" races):
ROSE R4, R5 & R7,
SAND R3 & R8,
DOOM R5,
ASCOT R4 & R8.

Now, as it is, I concentrate most of my betting on the "A" races, but if I had simply ignored the other races completely, I would have finished comfortably in front today. It's much easier said than done though to cut your betting down to just 8 races on a Saturday.

How on earth do you manage betting on so many races???

Anyway, as I write, I've just picked up a nice little result at Ascot, so after a poor start, things are looking okay. :)

I liked Wire Detonator at Perth... ah well... It was at E/W odds so no damage done

As for cutting down.. you know my theory... Ya need to have a paddle in the water to do any good... I will come out in front today, but Melbourne was pretty damn hard... A couple of nice place getters helped out there along with a couple of winners... but we were heading out backwards prior to the last... that is what I mean by a paddle in the water.. I managed to jag 20/1 the place to save the day... My Thornbird in Perth helped later on as well... I know that it is conventional wisdom/thinking to have as few bets as possible, it's just I'm not conventional....

I missed your q about betting so many races... I am no snob... if the value is there I will have a dip ... the 100 ya might win on a maiden at Albury buys the same as the 100 you might win on a Cox Plate...

But you must be so damn busy of a Saturday afternoon with races going off so often and having to keep such a close eye on so many different sets of odds at different tracks.

Sportz 12th November 2005 07:24 PM

Good old Paul Harvey!!! Wednesday's poor result was obviously just a one off. :D

Nah not really

Betfair only bets on the Metros and a couple of others, plus NSW TAB.. surprisingly with the longer priced horses you are better off (on the whole) with the TABS.. ( it is easier to place a bet with the TAB (E/W) as well) I bet under 5$ (4/1) WIN only (10 Units).. and if they are E/W odds i bet 4 units win and 6 units place ( a unit is dependant on the size of the bank :) so that varies).. the place bet becomes the main bet I guess..

For me to back horses under 4/1 I have to be pretty sure about them, otherwise I leave em alone... So I am not as busy as you would imagine...

Sportz 12th November 2005 07:33 PM

Am I right that you don't take quinellas, trifectas, first 4s, etc. That probably makes it much easier to keep track of all the races and not go completely mad. :)
