I had Al's Flyer rated well above the rest of the field including STT. Weird eh?
Considering you (XPT) had STT well above the rest. It is like when 10 different people all have their "best bets" in the same race but everyone best bet is a different horse in the field, so the entire lineup of horses is given the best bet tag.

In terms of backing shorties, the only reason i don;t do it is because i don;t outlay enough in the first place to make it worth my while. Although i agree with the reasoning that if you have a horse rated at 1.1 but it starts at 1.5 that is a good bet. I think all-ups are a good bet to utilize though, i know one pro who uses them all the time. If i was betting say 500 the win or whatever i would have probably had a double stake i.e. 1000 on bentleigh biscuit yesterday, but because i only wager small ammounts i was happy just too have a couple of bob each way on amboise so i ended up getting money back and bit extra and there was always a chance that a roughie got up.

Also i had a pretty good day betting the outsiders in small fields yesterday. I got about 4, a couple at northam and missed out on mavericks honour who just went down by like a half head.

I haven't been able to do a lot of form study today as I'm feeling **********. I have an absolute shocking headache at the moment. :(

Anyway, here were some that I jotted down last night.

Ipswich
Race 7 - 4 MOONBI NYMPH, 5 Newmarket

Gosford
Race 5 - 11 DEAD SET CERTAINTY, 10 Bella Senora
Race 7 - 4 BIRD OF DAWNING, 3 Big Red Ball (4,3,1,6 - 9,5)
Race 8 - 10 KAKAKAKATIE & 2 GOLDEN DRAKE (10,2,1,12 - 5,6)

Bendigo
Race 2 - 10 MINORCA*, 6 Artisan
Race 4 - 5 COSTALOTS*, 2 Sunboy Tiger
Race 5 - 9 MISTER PEDANTIC & 1 DRAGON BOAT (9,1,11,10)

Not sure how well they'll go. As I said, I haven't really looked at them today except to check the scratchings. Anyway, now I'm off to bed to try to get rid of this damn headache.

Chuck....

I know how you feel.

I've got Bella Bandito against Mr Sequential in R6..... I think Mr S is the one to beat... I'll be going 1,11 - 3,4,9,5

And @ Gosford in the next 10,11 - 2,5,7

Good Luck

Stix 29th September 2005 02:43 PM

Sportz 29th September 2005 03:00 PM

Okay, I'm feeling a little bit better now.

I just checked out the results. Sure am glad I didn't bet today, or that would have made me feel sick again!!!

Hope nobody backed any of the donkeys I posted. Just goes to show that you can't take shortcuts with the races and you really have to study them properly.

w924 30th September 2005 07:40 AM

HI Mav

Ahh the tyranny of the punt..After a horror run of 2nds that just doesnt seem to end for me, yesterday, in desperation, I pulled a hunch bet out of my ass (outside barrier horse, tab1) Nothin Leica Cuza.. that just stared at me for no good reason... I throw a lousy $20 bucks at it, it bolts early, almost bowls the fave over (according to radio commentator) shoots many lengths out in front, lke a horse that cant be stopped, and yet still wins easily..(swab that horse!)

Then I decide to do something else completely different with some of my ill gotten gain, take some parlays (something I dont normally do) with Moonbi and Walarah and threw in Wokandi to win as a saver plus a parlay. (hunch bet ..outside barrier?) simply because it kept staring at me, again for no damn good reason.

So what happens? Wokandi salutes.. and the form horses, about which I am confident don't. Moonbi..runs 2nd...Go figure..it sure gets frustrating sometimes..

mad 30th September 2005 07:49 AM

Riddle me this fellow punters,

Did anyone here of a tactics change for Media last run (Cup of Tea Stakes)?

Or did Bowman just make a pigs of it?

Stix 30th September 2005 09:00 AM

Geelong

Initial Thoughts...... not overly confident until R5.... wait and see...

R1 - 4,6,3-7,9
R2 - 2,6,4-3,1
R3 - 3,4,8-5,10,1
R4 - 13,14,2-8,9,5
R5 - 1,5,2-4,6
R6 - 5,3,8 - 1,7
R7 - 10,6,3 - 5,8
R8 - 3,2,8-10,1,7

Tenacious Spirit 30th September 2005 09:15 AM

I went to put a few fixed odds bets on yesterday and had a look at the mares race in sydney and was shocked to seekannadah queen at 31 dollars, rank outsider. Have i done something wrong in my form analysis? i had her rated in my top 2.

We won't know until 1:26 tomorrow.

I must admit I hadn't considered her. If she wins or runs a place at big odds, you could be a hero!

w924 30th September 2005 10:25 AM

HI Mad,

I'm pretty sure change of riding tactics was mentioned by radio commentator just prior to running....I remember getting nervous that Media was going to beat my horse when I heard that :)

Sportz 30th September 2005 10:41 AM

Once again, I think you should probably stick with the strength today and consider Allan Robinson & Greg Ryan at Tamworth. The odds probably won't be as good as last Friday. But there's no reason why they won't get a few wins up and you could perhaps couple them up in multis with the next 2 or 3 in the betting or the Radiotab tips or something like that. Robinson looks to have 4 or 5 good winning hopes and Ryan has a few too.

Hope I haven't put a jinx on 'em. :o

Yeah, nothing outstanding today, so I'm just having a few small bets. More worried about tomorrow.

Chuck 30th September 2005 12:26 PM

Tamworth 8-1 Coronation Quiz
Geelong 5-2 Drizzle

w924 30th September 2005 12:29 PM

Good Luck guys..the first in Rocky looks a toughie..lots of different selections there..taken a few small parlays for fun

mad 30th September 2005 12:54 PM

Thanks w924,

Was just watching the replay and saw what i thought to be a living nightmare, media trying to pull a mnemosyne. Funny thing is if Media had been ridden on the pace she woulda or at least coulda won. Coming from back of the pack - no chance.

Question is will the brains trust try it again tommorrow.

w924 30th September 2005 01:01 PM

Hi Mad, Ive been watching Media ever since the head of a major TAB, and sporting personality, came into my local tab and declared Media a dead cert back in feb or thereabouts......it didnt win then either...

Tomorrow? well who knows? Im picking they dont run it like the previous effort,
all the best!
Cheers !

Ooooops might of typed too soon !!

He won by enuff though didn't he !!!???

saratoga samchaz 30th September 2005 03:41 PM

Wonder Woman? Didn't she just win two days ago? I had her. I didn't know she was in. It didn't really matter though since the US wasn't taking the 7th and 8th at GEE. I did have a real nice get out bet on NATURALLY JANE at Moruya and had the exacta with Dreamon Harris. Beautiful div's!!!!! The manager at the turf club tried to mess me up while betting the later races on my way out. She started screaming at me to leave and stuff. The place is open to 12:30 and it was 20 past. You would think, her being a former jockey at Delaware Park, that she would understand.

saratoga samchaz 30th September 2005 03:55 PM

Stix, You won in a protest, eh!!! Sometimes I WONDER MAN!!!! That horse JUST HAS to win now. Good luck. I'm excited for tomorrow's big card. Is IRISH ROVER racing in NZ? I wish I could get down on that one. I play(ed) in an Irish band named the Delaware Rovers and we woould always start each show with The Irish Rover. Where's Sir Dex running and how about HIGH CEE?

Stix 30th September 2005 04:03 PM

Sir Dex is running @ Flemington tomorrow and I think High Cee has been rested (i think?)

Wonderman..... jelly man.... maybe!! (LAST !!!)

Sportz 30th September 2005 04:33 PM

High Cee suffered a tendon injury and is out for the rest of the spring.

ONE winner at odds-on!!! Boy I'm a good judge.

Seriously, I thought they'd win at least 4 of the 8 races! Anyway, I sure am glad I've kept my money the last 2 days. Otherwise I might not have anything left for the great racing tomorrow!!!
