plenty of winners there sportz, well done..

maverick1993 17th September 2005 09:37 PM

Killed them in Sydney Sportz .. well done :)

maverick1993 17th September 2005 10:11 PM

Have a few runners in the stable tomorrow..havent looked at the races yet ..
but have alook anyway.
Activation, Picaduke, Walt to Glory, Fanqualo, Punjab Lad, Umatrick.

A few handy races around tomorrow.. good luck :)

Sportz 18th September 2005 10:14 AM

SANDOWN
(Some shorties here, so be careful with the value)
Race 4: 2 KING JOHANNES looks the one here. In good form and likes the wet. Possibly 7 Brunocavalli as the danger.
Race 5: 2 AIRSTREAM thrashed Happy Giggleson and narrowly beaten by Headturner. That's good form for this. 6 Shotgun Saxon could be the danger.
Race 6: 2 ACTIVATION definitely the one to beat here. Appears to have a class edge. However, 3 Irongail has been transferred to Lee Freedman and is one to watch. (2-3-4-6-1)
Race 7: 2 MATRAS looks the one to beat, but not likely to be any odds at all. 6 Caller one could be the value.
Race 8: An even race, but 6 AQUA VELVA could be a good each way bet from 1 & 2.

LISMORE
I agree with Mav here with R7-1 UMATRICK and R8-2 FANQUALO

ECHUCA
Here I like R8-2 FLEUR DE L'ORIENT. It's last run behind Sharipova is great form for this. 1 Cogmagic a possible danger.

DONALD
In Race 6 I'm looking at 1 ALL PRESSURE to beat 7 Tanna Hero and in Race 7, I like 1 FIELD HUNTER to beat 2 Sir Flex.

By the way, Queanbeyan R3-1 KIR ROYALE ran yesterday in Sydney and was quite competitive against much tougher opposition. If you're willing to take the risk on a horse backing up the next day, then he's the one to beat.

w924 18th September 2005 12:56 PM

Hi Sportz,

always like to see your picks..the very first message on this thread was by luv2 bet who picked Perlin and Capadan to win at an earlier meet. For those with omens etc... Perlin ran yesterday and Capadan runs today....

Roughie for Echuca today R8 Flying Grange

Sportz 18th September 2005 01:26 PM

Thanks w924. Good luck with your bets. Yes, I have Flying Grange rated 3rd for that race.

I didn't end up betting in Race 4 at Sandown as I didn't like the odds on King Johannes. Good thing too. Looks like they have to get to the outside fence to have a chance at Sandown today, so I'm going to take it very easy.

w924 18th September 2005 01:48 PM

Hi Sportz

I'm with you..im staying out of Sandown altogether (and Devonport) today..there are other good tracks on offer to play in today..

that Echuca race looks like a good multiple proposition maybe.
Good Luck Sportz and well done yesterday in Sydney

Sportz 18th September 2005 02:00 PM

Yes, I think you might have made the right decision at Sandown!!!

Desi 18th September 2005 03:10 PM

He who hesitates is lost...

Was umming and arrrghing over your pick All Pressure Sportz on how to back it....I missed the race lol! To be honest, happened to me more than a couple of times yesterday and that included Macs Tune....have to go in and do some fixed betting...
:(

Sportz 18th September 2005 03:40 PM

It's been a tough sort of day. Some poor value and some surprise results.

We may have to disregard a bit of the form from Sandown today, although I thought the best betting race there was R6 where I was keen on 2, 3, 4 & 6 and I got the trifecta, so not too bad.

mad 18th September 2005 03:48 PM

Tell me about it!

MR6 No 4 Krayzelburg - followed this Nag for a while with no luck. I saw it was running today but had given up on it some time ago. Well i guess you guys can figure it out from there...

Always the way.

3 wins 2nds and a 3rd ..not bad ..love coming home, logging on and seeing a better balance in the bank account..
a few shorties that i usually wouldnt of backed if i was on the job,,,but Walt to glory was a good result..
hope you guys had a winner or 2 :)

luv2bet 18th September 2005 04:28 PM

Nice work Mav, cant argue with that strike rate..

Havnt heard from Mr Ed for a while, could do with a few of his thoughts around melbourne...... Might still be pi**ed from civils winnings

w924 18th September 2005 04:54 PM

For a guy who doesnt normally play on sundays I have had a lot of fun and made more money than yesterday...go figure. was a nice way to pass the time at work....just using the Qld tab top 3 ratings and applying my saturday rules.

That "outsider" program looks to be something to be wary of with 1400m races.....fought two of my selections right to the line today..score :1 all.

Flying Grange was my big go..close but no cigar.. however Redgumwon, and later Edge of the Storm ( a horse I should not have backed..(2nd up from a spell) a mistake ,but it lobbed at 12.00 IAS fixed and Fangsforthe memories was tabqld rating value at 9.00 ias fixed. Two of those winners were drifters., and I missed the best price to begin with, but went back for more after they each drifted a point..its a practice Ive used for years and I cant tell you how often I win even more money that way...so much for winning shortners eh?

some days you make a mistake (like yesterday..keyboard error had me plonk the wrong horse on iasbet) and lose...other days you make a mistake and win.
Thats racing...It all evens out in the end I reckon..
see you next time..

maverick1993 18th September 2005 05:02 PM

a few for tomorrow.
Port Macquarie
*Dusty Daniel, *windon, *Raffin Glow (good track)
Bathurst
*Kings Counsul, *Sausilito Bay

Good luck if you have a bet :)

Sportz 18th September 2005 07:00 PM

Well done w924. Those Unitab ratings are useful.

w924 19th September 2005 06:26 AM

Hi Sportz, speaking of Unitab ratings ( I was told that they are actually the Mark Read ratings).

has anyone else got an opinion on the following observation?

There doesnt seem to be much, if any, correlation between the unitab ratings (M Read(?) and the Iasbet opening prices (M Read) on offer..

recent examples include Brindabella 41.00 on offer and yesterday Redgumwon a top rated horse on unitab that Iasbet laid at very generous odds ..... Flying Grange was another top rated horse yesterday that IASbet offered very generous odds about... right to the jump ...while the price shortened considerably elsewhere....

If I did the ratings for a TAB and also ran a betting agency...surely i would keep my top rated horses safe by not offering overly generous odds about them.... even after taking into account that I am trying to set a book, and some of the prices I offer are to offset bets on other runners...

This observation is leading me to think that perhaps IASbet and Unitab are completely unrelated...the person rating the unitab selections and the person setting the iasbet book are completely different entities...

I welcome any input on this...

I don't know where that idea came from. I don't think Mark Read has anything to do with them. I think you'll find they use a formula something like AAP's neural algorithms.

w924 19th September 2005 07:55 AM

Hi Sportz, thanks for that feedback... I think it was Baghwan who told me that...I am pretty much convinced now that the two are unrelated. Its always good to know where things come from...

All the very best

"Stuff you TINTORETTO" LOL Amen! at least we had the fave well covered..

mad 20th September 2005 12:37 PM

Silly me - should of had a saver for the place at those odds - oh well.

SR3 Nervate also looks value although it is a maiden with little or no form.

w924 20th September 2005 12:48 PM

Bobs Bid opens at 5.00 on Ias..think I'll run with Mavs fireant at 11.00 instead
No more seconds!

mad 20th September 2005 12:48 PM

Bobs Bid @ $20 looks GREAT value, nice pick there w924.

Just hope he stays there now, only $5 fixed IAS.

mad 20th September 2005 12:50 PM

Might be worth hanging on w924 considering how short the fav is. Take a saver on the place perhaps.

w924 20th September 2005 12:53 PM

TRue mad..its still 21.00 on unitab...see what happens..real short on NSW tab tho.. Fireant is going to start at a better price by the looks ...tough race..

YAY WELL DONE MAV! 12.00 Fixed...
