Anyway, it's been a good end to the day and I've now worked out once and for all which races I should concentrate on in future.

Gday Sportz...

I reckon I said this to you ages ago... your ratings work over the long run... so trust the ************ things.. U will surprise yaself how much you will make if you keep your nerve.... Somedays we all lose, but if your ratings are any good (which I know yours are) TRUST EM...

I just backed a thing in the last at Ipswich I had it rated 3rd pick at about $6.. It wins and pays 26 bucks... thats what I mean by trusting your ratings... who cares if no one agrees with you... the less that agree with you the better the price imho.. Trust ya gut Sportz... I do.. sometimes I fall flat but other times it is wooooooooohooo time

Sportz 8th September 2005 04:39 PM

XPT,

As it turned out, by race time, I had actually decided to make my biggest bet on Blue Collar Jack. Some on here might remember that Mr Ed and myself both had Blue Collar Jack last start when it won at about the same price as today. It came out of a strong form race back in the autumn when it should have won. In the placings that day were St Louis Blue, Abitakash and Correct Amoondo. Well, all 3 have run well since and after Abitakash won race 3 easily today, that boosted my confidence for Blue Collar Jack and Correct Amoondo. They promptly ran 1-2 at nice odds.

maverick1993 8th September 2005 06:28 PM

where's Mr Ed,,,is he still rolling around in all that cash he would of won on Civil ..or did he off himself after old Harry got up at 200/1 the other day just after he sacked him.. ??

saratoga samchaz 8th September 2005 09:37 PM

Mav, I blew it last night not just following Byrne. I was looking for value and couldn't catch a thing. It all started with missing Can Man in the first. i didn't spot your selection in my sloppy writing on my paper until a little later. When the horse is new to me it doesn't stand out as much. I didn't even check the results after the 3rd in Ballina and Ips yet, but it's enough to know that I missed Blue Collar Jack. Where did he run? We weren't taking it, I guess. Damn it, the bird shying wonder does it again, huh? I appreciate the nice info though and it all was very accurate, as usual. I think tonight I'm going to stick around and bet on the phone/computer so I don't miss anything. I don't mind listening on 2ky anyway. It reminds me of the old days in the bookie joints here in town before simulcasting! LOL (the best laid plans, we'll see what really happens)

saratoga samchaz 8th September 2005 09:40 PM

Sportz, keep me abreast of St. Louis Blue when he's in. I like the name since it's the name of one of our hockey teams and that's my game and he sounds like he's ready to pop. I appreciate it. Glad to hear the Australian Handicapping Team/propun divison is still kicking ass!!!!!

saratoga samchaz 8th September 2005 09:44 PM

Makybe Diva is in this weekend at Moonee Valley. Sounds like a good Sat. of racing coming up. It's good to know the only BOSS isn't just here in Asbury Park, New Jersey! Where's my High Cee going to go next? Hopefully somehere at a higher level so I can't catch a nice div. What does everybody think of HIGH CEE?

saratoga samchaz 8th September 2005 09:44 PM

I mean CAN catch.....

saratoga samchaz 8th September 2005 09:45 PM

Or the way I miss winners, maykbe I do mean CAN"T catch...... LOL

Quote Sportz "Yeah. I'm going to have to write up a set of rules and sit 'em on the desk right in front of me"

Yeah know how you feel Sportz...had an up and down day today and if I had shown a bit of discipline and stuck to my guns then I would have turned a small profit into a great one...still on top so shouldnt complain after Blue Wednesday lol...want to thank Mav, Sportz, XPT, Stix and others (apologies if Ive missed you-tired from viewing videos for this weekend) for tips which I must say helped today...hope I can return the favour one day...

Keep up the great work!:)

 Did you back Castlebar???

saratoga samchaz 9th September 2005 11:40 AM

Oh no, ooh no! Not again. I have to go to the turf club and put some cash in the acct. It's probably too late to put any in so i'll have to bet there and put it in tomorrow. Let me have it. how much?

Sportz 9th September 2005 11:41 AM

About 10/1.

saratoga samchaz 9th September 2005 11:43 AM

Brutal. Like I don't need a 10/1. How about the NFL> did ya play oakland? I'm more mad about missing Bluecollar Jack again even though i couldn't really get down here. Last i heard it was Oakland up 14-10 half way thru 2nd quarter.

saratoga samchaz 9th September 2005 11:45 AM

Did Gai win the 1st Hawks?

Didn't end up betting here. Raging Bullet was FAR too short for a first-upper in a maiden. Unfortunately, that's probably going to be the way with all of the Chillemi / Crossland runners today, so I'm going to be careful betting in Cairns.

Sportz 9th September 2005 12:09 PM

Damn! I missed one of XPT's trainer selections. Joe Pride had Stormberg at Hawkesbury which won at about $28!!!

Stix 9th September 2005 12:14 PM

Hi Mav and XPT,
I enjoyed watching the Ballina Cup yesterday..great result for you with Beamer. Was Counter Agent the one near the fence which couldnt get a clear run?

Good luck today!

Gday 924... yah couldnt get out.. but that is the way it goes.. we still won on the race

w924 9th September 2005 12:47 PM

Hi XPT

"I just backed a thing in the last at Ipswich I had it rated 3rd pick at about $6.. It wins and pays 26 bucks... thats what I mean by trusting your ratings... who cares if no one agrees with you... "

Amen!!! Great words of advice there XPT
well done.

Picking winners is easier for some people than actually backing them properly.
A lesser punter would have sacked his 3rd rated horse..esp if losing, and switch to "follow the money" or the fave...only to see his 3rd rated horse get up..Now THAT really hurts!

All the best
P.S just saw your reply about Counter Agent..thought so...it was ready to climb over the top of them....maybe next time...

Silver_and_sand 9th September 2005 03:37 PM

Results for today's selections:

Cairns R4 #6 Slick Score $11.00W/$3.40P
Cairns R6 #7 Lost Prince NP

Hawkesbury R6 #3 Petulengro NP
Hawkesbury R7 #4 Mindsky NP

Moe R8 #3 Bolters Show NP

Win = 6 unit profit
Place = 1.6 unit loss

I'm not impressed with my strike rate, but I guess I shouldn't complain, since I finished up for the day. Thank goodness for Slick Score.

Sportz 9th September 2005 03:45 PM

Well done. Can't complain with that dividend.

xptdriver 9th September 2005 03:53 PM

By Jeez this Juerga is short at Dubbo... I might bet around him... all of these are value in MHO 3 7 10 and 9...

Let;s hope Juerga doesnt blitz em

Well the value about 7 certainly disappeared

well there ya go.... too good Juerga

Sportz 9th September 2005 04:07 PM

Yep. Thought he would be too good for them. Almost didn't get there though. Great win. I tipped the trifecta in order, but I don't suppose that was too hard.

luv2bet 9th September 2005 04:09 PM

JUst looking at the last in dubbo, pretty open race. Ive got king consul rated on top, not far above just ahead, golden solo and wolverhampton. Looks like a decent race for a tri. Think kings consul will take some catching, hasnt done much wrong in his last few and ryan on board is a big bonus.
See how we go...

xptdriver 9th September 2005 04:29 PM

Gday luv2bet

I have the last at Dubbo like this

3 $4.40 Golden Solo
2 $4.60 King's Consul
10 $6.60 Shock Tactics
4 $7.70 Lares
12 $11.20 Slim Shady

A pretty open race

Dunno if I would be jumping in at odds on Kings Consul.... Probably blitz em tho :)

We might not get this last one in... its gettin dark

maverick1993 9th September 2005 05:04 PM

Hey guys,,,had a fun day today..
A friend and i put $500 in the kitty and bet on just about everything includign the dogs and trotts,,,,
was down to the last $50 when we got Strictly smart ,,and the tri 5 times..
should of quite there but nooo
had a go at Fubutu the full bro to Fubu ..lost a stack then we chucked it all on Monte Dreamer in the last...was very unlucky,,
left us with $200 so we put on a couple of doubles
The lad and OER at 21
Imana and For Valour at 190 ..$100 on each..

Had a good time...was actually fun having a punt with a friend and cheering the house down..,especially with strictly smart(we needed that)..had a few to many beers..a few to many chicken wings ,,and come home with nothing in the pocket..
Usually i'm infront of the puter and even when im on track i'm on the handsfree, hassling bookies and sussing out different people in the industry..doesnt leave much time to sit back and have a bet and a drink like today..
looking at the results i dont think i would of made anything today anyway..
Strictly smart and the tri and 1st4 maybe..
Miss Celia and Danzietta were selections..but Poiym, Leamington rd, Vitegic, Jamiaca Farewell and Yumiko would of killed me anyway..

Hope you guys had a win...

be on later with the Brissie thread....like a few for tomorrow..

luv2bet 9th September 2005 05:04 PM

Thanks xpt,

One bet one win, pitty cant do that every day!
Had my four mentioned and added shock tactics which was your third pick(already had your top two) Box 5 60 out 378 in. Nice divvie there with the favourite out.. Shouldve backed just ahead straight out as well had him rated a real close 2nd... cant complain though.
Off to the couch to find some winners for 2morrow!!

luv2bet 9th September 2005 05:31 PM

Sounds like a good day out there Mav. To me racing is all about the challenge and fun, and days like that are good for ya. Every couple of weeks I do the same with a few mates down the local, cant beat it, usually walk in at home sideways with an empty wallet but great days to be had!!

luv2bet 9th September 2005 06:10 PM

Will get this up early as its my bet of the day for 2morrow.
VICTORIA PARK
***MADAM SPANK. This horse is bursting at the seams and am very confident in a big run. Couldnt make it to the trials last week where he beat squillani over 1000, but from all accounts he has pulled up very well and trained the house down during the week, a good mate has been watching him closely. $8 in early markets but regardless of price Ill be going large.
Keen on a few others 2morrow, back later........

saratoga samchaz 9th September 2005 09:32 PM

Yeah Mav, Leamington killed me too. but Sydney City ran great. I should have used Stdney in a bunch of multiples as a roving banker (key?) but I was spreading all my bankroll between a few races.

saratoga samchaz 10th September 2005 08:43 AM

Rosehill R7) 5 SHANNON BANK + 8 IMANA (2,7,1,10,12,13)

Shannon Bank looks at top of her game if you throw out race two back where she lost a plate. She has already beaten almost all these runners, except a few of these. My main fear is IMANA who was making up ground in lane after being blocked for run in last win by Shannon. Fear of speed holding up or no pacesetters dueling it out are the only question.
