Bad luck mate. That doesn't sound good. There were some funny results today. It's not like that every week.

Sure was it seemed a day for people that go with the names or there fav numbers. I had 4 2nds and 2 3rds so im not too dissapointed as im still consistantly there abouts in the placings. With a lil bit of luck it would have been a much more profitable day but thats racing.
Now i just have too keep reminding myself to increase the amount i bet on the dogs as i have much more luck with them. Sometimes having streaks of up to 8 wins on the trot which has never ever happended with the horses. Why is it though i wont sneeze at putting up to 300 on a horse but poo myself having 50 on a dog???? Doesnt make sense but after the last few days i think things will change.

I noticed you were also thereabouts with your selections and with a bit of luck it would have been a different story completely.

Best of luck tomorrow everbody!!!!!!

Yep. Even today's 3rd was a good run. He puts in every time.

XPT,

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

These were the races that I considered the best betting races today ("A" races):
ROSE R2, R3, R6 & R8,
SAND R4 & R9,
ASCOT R5 & R7,

And these were the races I classed as next best ("B" races):
ROSE R4, R5 & R7,
SAND R3 & R8,
DOOM R5,
ASCOT R4 & R8.

Now, as it is, I concentrate most of my betting on the "A" races, but if I had simply ignored the other races completely, I would have finished comfortably in front today. It's much easier said than done though to cut your betting down to just 8 races on a Saturday.

How on earth do you manage betting on so many races???

Anyway, as I write, I've just picked up a nice little result at Ascot, so after a poor start, things are looking okay. :)

I liked Wire Detonator at Perth... ah well... It was at E/W odds so no damage done

As for cutting down.. you know my theory... Ya need to have a paddle in the water to do any good... I will come out in front today, but Melbourne was pretty damn hard... A couple of nice place getters helped out there along with a couple of winners... but we were heading out backwards prior to the last... that is what I mean by a paddle in the water.. I managed to jag 20/1 the place to save the day... My Thornbird in Perth helped later on as well... I know that it is conventional wisdom/thinking to have as few bets as possible, it's just I'm not conventional....

I missed your q about betting so many races... I am no snob... if the value is there I will have a dip ... the 100 ya might win on a maiden at Albury buys the same as the 100 you might win on a Cox Plate...

But you must be so damn busy of a Saturday afternoon with races going off so often and having to keep such a close eye on so many different sets of odds at different tracks.

Good old Paul Harvey!!! Wednesday's poor result was obviously just a one off. :D

Nah not really

Betfair only bets on the Metros and a couple of others, plus NSW TAB.. surprisingly with the longer priced horses you are better off (on the whole) with the TABS.. ( it is easier to place a bet with the TAB (E/W) as well) I bet under 5$ (4/1) WIN only (10 Units).. and if they are E/W odds i bet 4 units win and 6 units place ( a unit is dependant on the size of the bank :) so that varies).. the place bet becomes the main bet I guess..

For me to back horses under 4/1 I have to be pretty sure about them, otherwise I leave em alone... So I am not as busy as you would imagine...

Am I right that you don't take quinellas, trifectas, first 4s, etc. That probably makes it much easier to keep track of all the races and not go completely mad. :)
