Listening to the race Bossy was doing some sight seeing looking over each shoulder..... as he couldn't go anyhwere..... but LUCKY for us !! |

Sorry about that. Shouldn't have tipped in that one. An open 1000m scamper. When will I learn? As it turned out, all the late money was for Sierra Slammer, so they obviously knew something. |
What the....? St Tevoc??? I give up.
|
If this is of any use... this is how i see the Wyong Cup... not overly confident.. I think the ol boy from Taree will run well and is a nice price
2 $2.60 Irongail 3 $5.80 Carael Boy 1 $6.80 Dancing Daggers 4 $7.00 Empyreal 7 $9.90 Monsoon Sunrise Cant discount the Taree Cup winner but IMHO it is unders |
Quote:
Woo hoooooo the ol taree horse doent let us down... hope ya took the tip :) |
Yep
Nice work X... had the ol' boy in there.... not a lot of value.... BUT.... a win is a win is a win is a win !
|
Hey, my ratings were pretty similar to that, XPT. Quite a gettable first 4 really, wasn't it. :)

I love Irongail.. It sure does'nt owe me any money, but Carael Boy is a local from around here and have backed him for yonks and I know the Trainer and he is a gent imo... having said all that... I think he was the horse to get excited about... I thought Irongail might struggle at the distance, but was prepared to back it with the boy... but I reversed the bets... the others in the race were not much value at all... The $6 was a fair price for the ol fella... I was hoping he would slip in under the radar, but he didnt... a good tough win just the same... I ave been goin ok lately.... hope it continues |

Gday stix... agree on the value side.... but I made my own value by reversing the bets... |
MASTER NELSON????? :(
|
Any thoughts?
any thoughts for last at wyong?
|
You were right Sportz about Cindy Kate ..to short imo ..
had a go at Mac's tune sounded unlucky ....Empyreal probably ran a good race but probably as good as can be expected.. Tara's Song just didnt come on..dissapointing... Shining light was Indicates :) just went alittle greedy with the tri and 1st4 and only got the tri once,,,,,,lately i've been getting them 5 to 10 times and been getting alittle cocky.. anyway not to much damage 1 for 4 ..25% loss ..but i can live with that.. Saturday looks huge ...my fav horses Merlot Now and Bomber Bill are against each other,,wont know what to do. Hope you guys jagged a winner or two .. |

Sorry mate. I would have said 1 to beat 3, but not much good now, is it. :o |
Not all is lost.......
Thnx sports went Duet on 1,3,9,11.... so not a bad result
|
Hi Guys,,a few thoughts for tomorrow.
Ipswich *Diexueme.. even with the weight has these covered,,just to good.. *Suubird..fought on well last start at a distance i think is too long..better suited here at the 1200m ..doesnt have to beat much.. Grafton *Fanqualo,, always hard these scampers but this one has been in good form ..can run time.. *Shagny lover ,.good run up the inside last start..has been working well to the line previously..might sneak under the radar if they come for Concitare and the old Boy rodeo Chutout.. might be temtped with Admiral Jack in Ballarat..if the odds are right,, probably just the four for me tomorrow..Good Luck :) |
I was just looking at the results from yesterday, just had the one bet, running double race 7 into 8 at wyong which i didn;t get due to st tevoc and carael boy. I was just thinking though, i put the bet on in the morning based on prepost markets etc not the final prices, had i seen st tevoc at $22, you would have to throw him in wouldn;t you? His form read pretty well, nothing higher than 4th for his 4 runs back from a spell and would have been reaching peak fitness 5th run back. I took him on based on the fact that i thought he would be pretty much in the market and 'at the odds' was prepared to take the gambel that others had his measure.
Another thing. In the second leg carael boy won. That is like the 5th time i have been burnt by that horse. He is a pretty good galloper. I mean he sneaks up on you and a lot don;t rate him in most of the races he competes. I.e. he is a wet tracker, too old etc. But in these sort of sydney races he always seems to do pretty well. He is a very versatile galloper i now believe. He won yesterday at his first go at 2100, and about 3 weeks ago he won a 1600 race (if i remeber correctly). Yesterday he met some ok opposition most of which had seen the likes of 2100 metre journeys and beyond. Another thing i have noticed about this horse, which i would have thought to be uncharacteristic for an older horse is that he seems to maintain form quite well. He has been up for a while now and whilst he doesn;t win every won, he remains consistent and when the right race pops up he comes out and gives it a shake. I think he just one of those "throw him in" sort of horses - the ones where after the race you are like yeh, yeh i can understand why he won, but before you are like oh yeah he probably won;t be up to it. Anyway, if anyone actually read through the lot of that i hope you got at least something from it - Matt |

I must admit I've been a bit like that. I did gave him a good chance of winning yesterday. However, I remember earlier in his career that he had such a great record on wet tracks, I have sort of tended to regard him as a wet tracker only. But his recent form on dry tracks has been great. |
Just perusing tommorows randwick form. Whats going on? These fields are ******** weak in terms of numbers. The roman consul - 5 runners!! As for the first race, give me a break.
|
Sportz, it's wierd like that. Some horses seem to tend towards the wet tracks as then get older whilst some who were previously good on wet tracks seem to prefer dry tracks as they get older. It can be a bit misleading at times i.e. a horse has had 12 starts on the wet and won six placed in 2. You go oh yeh he is a swimmer for sure, however it might have been the 4 unplaced runs on the wet that were the most recent.

Gday All You have to remember ... he is a group winner in his early days ( without researching i think it was the straddie, might be wrong tho) and early on he was NEVER out of the money regardless of company... Brad Pengelly made his name ridiing this bloke... he is now stable jockey for McLachlan on the Coast and Brissy.. he has had injury problems in the past (the horse that is) his win yesterday is typical of the ol fella... He is a tough bloke, who regardless of the price and ratings (rated 2nd) seemed to be the best option in that race.. another of my favs, Joe Pride's Irongail, was iffy at the distance but had been going better in better company of recent time IMO , than the ol fella, and as I said in an earlier post owes me no money... so i backed both of em, but was pretty sure that Carael Boy would beat Irongail home, not neccessarily win the race, so I backed Irongail as a cover (18$) and Carael Boy as my main bet (38$) so 56$ outlayed for a profit of 175$ so it was a good result... Keep an eye out for the horses from up this way,,, they do pop up at the most unexpected times..as is evidenced by St Tevoc :) |
i think the track suited Careel Boy yesterday..the short straight plays into his style...he sort of races prominent and sticks on...but on a longer straight you could see Dancing Daggers run over all of them...
I risked Dancing daggers yesterday because of the tight track,,,betfair should of been my go in that race.... |

Actually it was the Villiers (group 2) in 2001. I remember it well because I had a good bet on Carael Boy in that one. I also remember that I took a 4 horse box trifecta and my picks finished 1-2-3-4 and I didn't take a first 4. Anyway, he also won a couple of other group 3 races early on too in amongst a string of wins. Actually, I just looked back at his form and coming into the Stradbroke of 2002 he had 14 wins from his first 19 starts!!! He finished 11th in the Stradbroke and in just over 3 years since then, he'd only won 2 races from 35 starts! That was before yesterday. |
No tips today boys ??? does everyone have their noses in the form guides and video screens for tomorrows races..
How hard is Melbourne tomorrow...speed maps are driving me crazy..easier to throw a dart in some of those.. |

Yeh i am having a rest today. Checking out tommorows racing. Check out brissy tommoz, i have got the #4 runner rated as a chance in nearly every race, how weird is that? There are some real toughies tommorow, with the youngsters being so even and so many first up appearances.
|
Yeah, likewise. I was really only keen on one race today and Concitaire's done the right thing there, so I'm happy. Nice trifecta too. Might do a Kenchar and call it quits for the day now I think.

Wierd TS

On a long lost thread a while ago..... someone posted that "if in doubt" :
Cheers Stix |

Damn. I would have had the winner and the trifecta in Grafton Race 6. Shouldn't have stopped betting after the good result in race 4. :(
|
always happens Sportz...thats why i cant do it,,,,just have my plan for the day and stick with it...and have my play bets to keep me interested..
Diexieme was ridden poorly ...always thought Active Combat a wet tracker..?? but he won well today.. |
Yeah, I had a good win in R4, but I've missed out on an even better result in race 6. DUMB!
|
Great day today
Suubird and Fanqualo winning the others performed well ..Diexeime 4th ,Shagny Lover 3rd and Admiral Jack 3rd .. 2 for 5 ...nice trifectas ..cashed up again for tomorrow.. :) Bad Luck on Able Hero STix..i had a play $10 on it and it seemed the winner in the straight..just wanted to lay in so Kathy couldnt ride it out...will mark it down in the book .. Govenator almost got there aswell,, we were all very consistant today.. |
Thanks for SUUBIRD, Mav. I didn't get on Fanquala as they only took up til race 7. Really sprinted clear in the end didn't he? Don't see why he can't get 7f. Also, got a nice exacta with Fox in Sox(Thanks to XPT) and World of Prayer(Thanks ME) but bet mine to win instead of X-man's.(Goul) How about that jock going down in that race. I heard he's alright on 2KY(Excellent station).
Now i have it check my results after race 5. SAM"S ADVICE kinda mad me mad though 0-31, but 9 for 31 in the money. |
