Can't have enough on Blue Collar Jack today.
He mixes his races but last time in he ran a blinder one day at Cranbourne, leading virtually all the way, he was going to bolt in by about 3l but shyed at a bird and finished about 7th. The form out of the race has been enormous with horses like St Louis Blue, Correct Amoonda and others i can't remember who all won their next start. His next start was at bendigo where he led and found sweet fa. He is nominated for the cups, which is always a decent sign for a maiden, he's also first up over 1400, which tells me he's done plenty of work for a first up kill. I am going to back this horse every start he has to make a profit off him, because he will win a race. Good to be True, was back near last, last start in a race where there was another crajerjack run by VIAKALANI SMYTZER for the blackbookers. He came wide on the turn and was green as grass all the way down the straight, he might get to a decent quote with Soi Cowboy looking the class, and Reignite who's always in commision. Will be on both today and maybe a running dubb to. Well done Mav, you murdered them yesti. Sorry about Flu Blu it was a really stupid selection from that gate, i thought Flu would be dubb figs and the winner would be around even money but ended up real value and Blu no value at all. |
Avenger, you lurking out there? How's the American racing been going? I really like some at Saratoga this Saturday. Travers Day, no less, but I've been waiting for a couple of these to run back. FIRST SAMURAI will try to step to the next level when the 2 year old takes on the top-rated Hugh Hennesy in the G1 Hopeful Stakes at 7f. The Frank Brothers Trainee ran roughshod over his last allowance field at the Spa on Haskell Saturday. Bailey rode one mount at Saratoga that day (Samurai), hopped on the plane, flew to Monmouth, couldn't land at the scheduled airport, landed at another, made it in time to win the Haskell on Bob BAffert's 3yo ROMAN RULER who crushed that field and is entered in the Travers on Sat. I like him too as he crushed Flower Alley earlier in the Saratoga Meet and could realistically be the top horse in training in the world today. He was injured earlier in the year and is now ready to show his top stuff.
Many people think the undefeated LOST IN THE FOG is the best around, but I highly doubt it. He looks like a sprinter only and has ducked all the top three year olds and is obviously pointing to the BC Sprint. But he is going to lose the 7 furlong KING BISHOP STAKES to the Steve Asmussen trained SANTANA STRINGS who eclipsed the field in the 7f Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago. He will be a nice price and really may be the best sprinter going. Definitely a good value play. Zito has a 2yo who was scratced last weekend on a rainy day in a msw, but is scheduled to run on Sat. I can't remember his name right now but I'll get it in a minute. The big most important thing about all these selections is how the track is playing. Speed has been holding in sprints, closers or stalkers in dirt routes, and honest on the turf but I'm watching the rest of the week closely. Gotta go play some Aussies now. Hoping Mr. Ed, Sportz and Mav come through like usual!!!! |
Superfly is Zito's 2yo but I am having second thoughts as Super Steve Asmussen has QUAHADA in the same race with Bailey and has worked the same slow steady works that all his phenomenal 2 year old stable of debut winners have and IJ would be hard pressed to go against this approximately 65% winner with 2yo starters at the Spa this meet. Just goes to show that teaching 2yo's how to break sharply makes all the difference. I don't know where they will be next spring but that's not my probem. I gotta score now.
One of his top 2yo's just swept the Monmouth stakes for juveniles and won the bigger one by 81/2 lengths. HE"S GOT GRIT is a key horse for evaluation purposes as he may be as good as the 2yo's at Saratoga othet than Hugh Hennesy and First Samurai, or maybe as good. I got some nice info on a Delaware Park 2yo trained by Mike Matz who ran at 12-1 the other day after stepping up to allw vs. a field full of horses who ran against GRIT. He missed the whole shabang by 1/2 length after being boxed and steadied on the turn, racing greenly down the stretch and closing against the unforgiving speed bias. His name escapes me right now, but he came in third to Creve Coeur (Grahma Motion's 2yo)in the 7th at Delaware on Monday. He is FAST and won his maiden at 19-1 so he likes to win at a price. |
Thanks. I'll have a look at your picks on Saturday.
Regards, Glenn |

next time your in Melb I owe you a couple of hours (or days) @ the bar... |
Thanks Mr. ED. Info like shying from a bird while enroute to an easy victory is why I came on this board. However, as I've become accustomed to, I got talked out of going to the local (15 miles) Turf CLub that handles Aussies as it would be too late and they would close early on Weds. night. This after I read that fellow punter your info on the bird, the key race with multiple winners coming out, and his nomination for cups. Figured he might be good price as it was his first up. I've gotta get my phone-bet account up and running. The Turf Club does close at their own discretion when only Australian is running. Every time they announce they are closing, every one there starts yelling and freaking out (rightfully so). You can still bet the later races but you better have a bank roll. Great angle Mr. Ed and I suppose Sportz as well if Dolphins Tycoon got second.
On another note, did anyone hear about the snafu with the mix-up about Dubai Millenium's half brother (Dubai Exellence) and another horse (Samood)from Darley Stables? The wrong horse, Samood, was shipped to a Perth stud farm and was found not to be Dubai Excellence by the organization in OZ that monitors such matters. The article stated that the whereabouts of Dubai Excellence are unknown. What's up with that??? It's at DRF.COM under Mystery Horse heading. |
Just checked the American mutuals for Bluecollar Jack and threw up. W$18 P$8.80 S$10.00 That's a return of $36.80 for a typical $2 across the board bet($6 total). No to mention the $80 exacta for $2 or the $300 Tri for $2! How can this possibly happen every time I miss a horse?!?!? I'm gonna rip my buddy's head off. I figured the bird shying fiasco would mask the good run in the 7th place race and scare everyone off but I never figured 8-1. Although I didn't look over the form. Thanks anyway guys.

Nothing happening today ,,,0 for 3 :( all hopes on Northam later on ..
Grand Merlot and Don't say a word.. hopefully one of them salutes ..fingers crossed .. Good Luck All ,, off to the pub :) |

SS, I almost always back more than one horse per race. The horses I post in CAPITALS are my top picks and the others are the ones I consider the dangers. In Ballarat R4, I had both horses equal top rated and backed them both equally. Quote:

Shocker today...0 for 4 invested,,but 0 for 7 selected,,Grand Merlot 4th and Dont Say a word to short..
Thought about having the day off tomorrow and finishing the week (Sun to Frid) ahead ...but as soon as i start doing that runners start winning without me.. So here goes ..i'v been alittle inconsistent of late so be careful...i'm actually confident about most of them though ..i'll try and get on early tomorrow to see if there is any late mail..spewing i missed Mr eds tip today ..at that price it would of set me up for the day.. Cessnock *Wallarah boy....Gibbons knows the horse well,,its fitter after 3 runs back now ..lot to like about his last run where he made plenty of ground..thought Formula Ono would appreciate this class after tackling races to hard for him.. *Rostrum...huge run with the big weight last start..drops a stack for this ..Graham a plus ,,distance suits ..an open race this one so they might come for a few here..hoping for nice odds.. *Codie Cuddles...good stable..great last run over a unsuitable distance....performs well at the track,,alot to like here...alot of unkown runners ..the one i'd be watching is the Ryan mount Worondi who did ok last start and the extra distance suits... Townsville *Snick..gets all the ticks here...loves the track, loves the distance, good jockey , good weight, good barrier, good form..by my ratings will be about 1.20 ..but theres the toppy with the big weight that has proven that he can carry it..Vitegic who gets alot of ticks aswell,,and Don Sequalo who did the job for us before but needs to somehow cross from the bad barrier..and then you have RaidnRule whos mixed it with the best of them.. ???? not an easy race.. Snick gets the easy sit..so that should be enough.. good race ,,good value ? Seymour *Light of Day..will be prominent in a tough race..Gauci rates them well in front.. *Derringer e/w..made a heap of ground last start..gets a weight pull of the toppy..hopefully wont be to far back from the good barrier..Dunn a real good young rider..Robos Pal the one to beat loves the track.,will keep safe.. *Polyester Boy ,,gets back up to the 1400m.,, last run should just be forgotton..ridden a mile back to short ..made good ground..flying.. possible 7 selections...another drought sees me with a loss this week ,,and thats after jagging some huge tris and divies... feeling confident :) or that could be just the beer talking ... Good Luck.. |

Geelong: Race 3: No 5 Moon Fever Race 4: No 7 Drumbeater first up Race 6: No 9 Governor Macquarie Race 7: No 1 Kepero (hope it carries the weight otherwise Deeayabee or celtic bloom) Race 8: Quinella 3/8 back them both, base multiples around them Townsville: Race 1: No 3 Your So Dane Race 3: Two chances 4/8 - leaning towards Yumiko - maiden though so beware Race 4: No 6 Red China Doll Race 5: Two chances 9/11 box them in tri and quinella or back em Race 6: E/W Star Revundo top rater Race 7: Tri/Quinella no's 1/4/8/10 and 15 for value - Snick main hope Race 8: Best Bet at townsville - No 9 Trip to manilla - fingers crossed! Thanks for clearing that up. I figured the Bold letters were your best but didn't realize if you would back two horses to win. I did figure that you would have the exacta between the two no matter what. I still am new to the Aussie lingo and style of racing (much different than Europe and closer to American). Matter of fact, what did Mr. Ed mean when he said Bluecollar Jack "found sweet fa"? I took it as he was best of all and enroute to an easy victory. At least when my brother moves there next month he can start interpreting for me. LOL!
|
5th Geel 1)Satinspin- sure treated me nice last out at Flemington but looks to be short in a race void of much speed. Robbo's Pal might get an uncontested lead if the 8,9, or 11 don't press and carry his speed a little furher than usual. i still see him stopping as SATINSPIN goes by down the lane with #6 Shrogginet or #10 Derringer up for 2nd, followed by toss up forthird between 2, 3, 7, 14.
|
Hopefully won't be missing any more nice cashes as I went to re-open my phone bet acct, but won't be in action until tomorrow. When is ALINGHI gonna surface in a race? I wanna see this girl go!!!!!
|
Quote:
:D F.A actually stands for f*** all. So what Mr Ed meant was that the horse had every chance to win that race, but found absolutely nothing under pressure!!! |
I don't usually bet jumps races but this one could win with 3 legs :). Really cant see anything beating it unless it falls.
Geelong Race 1 AL GARHOOD |
Got ya Sportz! Sorta like what I say when I keep missing the big payers. LOL
