Belmont...
Just a quick summary for Belmont today as have the ma-in-law :( arriving this afternoon so got to do a few things around the garden (lol) and shopping...

R1 Air Race (is back to distance and conditions) and PJs ride will be the faves...Backed Silent Wishes last start...had it all against her ...Stewards report read...blood in mouth before the start...jumped awkwardly...threw head in air fos some distance...commenced to run keenly at 700m and then blocked for run 450m to 200m...She was on a slow track and ran all over the place before flying the last 50m to finish 2nd to Sweet Record (PJ)...Vern rates him and I will be taking on an each way...lots of others for the multis...Fleeting Angel, Lounge Hound, Blancmange, Orpenchic and Try For Value.

R2 Will I have another go on Sergeant Mack or is he going to always be the bridesmaid? Why not...last chance and has been flying from the back...not sure what sort of pace will be on...Delta Master, Our Blitz, Exstra and Lets Go Thommo for the exotics...

R3 Zedfire is consistent and will be fave after a couple of months off and goes well fresh. Sandy Point is carrying a bit of weight but has Jessies claim and shes flying at the moment...Evaluate tried to steal it from S Point front running last time and will try the same again on a dead track (last start was slow)... Sandy Point to sneak in again.

R4 Keys Ace has been running on in better races than this and is the one to beat...like Talbot Bay and will check price before deciding how to bet...

R5 Ive done a lot of $$ on Zedeisha and will leave her (shell probably win lol) and go for Stratham Streaker who is finishing very strongly (same conditions as last time and is peaking) Rosskaen for odds and multis...

R6 Coalseam has to win won soon...this should be the one...Vasari beat them by 3 lengths (1400m) last out and now gets a firmer track so will be the danger- Jaunty Lad and Super Tom the multis.

R7 Lady Avonlea owes me plenty and Im going to give her one more go...Baltic Boy (has been consistent in better races) and The Quartermaster was an improvers first up run last start will be the faves...will include Vie For Vanity and Uncle Graham in exotics (box?)...

Good luck all today...will be at the track looking for some value before mum turns up...:D

I didn't like this race because it was only 1000m and I don't usually bet on anything under 1200m. Glenn, are there any beliefs over there in the US about which distances are the best to bet on? Personally, I prefer 1400m-2000m although I will bet on other distances occasionally, depending on the class of the race. I very rarely bet in races less than 1200m though.

We generally agree that its best to avoid the really short ones, less than 1100 M. Also, maiden races, especially 2 year olds are tough. In spite of this, some here love maiden races, and we even have "quarter horses" whose most common distance is about 400 meters, (yes, thats 400 m) Each to his own, I say. I love thoroughbred racing. It is generally thought that the 1200 meter races are the easiest to pick a winner.

Damn, I just put the 10 and 4 together in a quinella at Wyong race #3, and the #4 was at 50-1 here. I love it! I have bet the 1st 5 races at Cranbourne and lost them all. This may be a track that doesn't like me?

Regards,

Glenn

Got some time on my hands this arvo, so gonna stop a coupla' Nags from winning.

NR 4 Don Ciccio
NR 5 Jailbreak
NR 6 Danehill Lass
NR 7 Western City

VR 8 Douro Valley, Show Barry
VR 9 MontCalm

Some roughies thrown in there for good measure, have a good one!

Well done Glenn. I'm not liking the look of Cranbourne now. It's been raining pretty consistently there and the track's been downgraded. I did all my ratings for a dry track, and I think there might be some funny results now. If it continues to rain, Gaju Chief will come right into calculatons for the Cup and to a lesser extent Charnwood Green and Hunter Hermitage. And in R9, Shadow and Beecher's Way will have to be included.

Looks tough there. As I suggested in my previous post, the track has been downgraded. Wet trackers are now starting to come right into it, whereas I wasn't considering them this morning when I worked out my tips.

Wooo Hooo!

Don Ciccio $7.60, might stop now cos it won't get much better me thinks.

Hope ya got on.

Believe it or not, Run For Glory was given out as the late mail tip for R6 at Cranbourne. Comes home at $17+.
