Is Millenium Eagle a Steeplechaser Stix, i remember the name? Gee that race looks made to order for Declaree, he looks thrown in at the weights considering he placed in c4 company last start and won a C3 showcase the start before. Also his form on the heavy is terrific, one to beat but Sonic is so so good you can't dismiss him.
|
Mr E
Not that I know of..... Agree Declaree and Sonic are the STAND OUTS.... just looking for value for fun... Stix |
My mistake, it's Millennium Dancer. Stix what price you reckon we'll get the Roller for tommorrow i'm really considering plonking the $2.60 fixed odds.
|
Take it....
I'd take the $2.60......., but I'll be taking him (a few times !!) in stand out exacta and tri with 3,8,13,14
|
What about Our Smoking Joe? Absolutely loves the Wet! 4-3-10 from me at this stage.

He looks awefully hard to beat Mav, but i'm very scared of the pressure he'll get from Vic By The Jug, absolute madman when it comes to leading. He missed the kick last time so hopefully that happens again. If not Johnny may have to take a sit and that's a worry with him, he does look the class however, good luck. Smoking Joe is really the only horse i am remotely worried about with the Roller, he was very impressive first-up despite having all the favors. Goes good second up and flies in the wet. Super Elegant can't beat him IMHO even if Super retains the lead and the Roller sits outside he is just not good enough. If the Roller gets to the fence, line up. |
Ed,
L. Freeman,on the radio this morning words to the effect: He's probably not up the class but is going ok.???? cheers |
So far so good !

Nice win and price was very pleasing........ see how the rest go !! |
Huge start Stix, well done.

I have had the most frustrating day. Was out but wanted to back becally so i am like speeding through traffic, step out of the car and it jumps.I am like ok stay calm. Like the chances of this nag in the next at ipswitch. Then i go nahh havnt really put much analysis into the race. The thing wins paying 23 dollars. I then go down in taree by a nose. Then one of mavs tips agrios also goes down by a nose. Blah

Did you mean me? I had Johnny Be Good to beat Vic By The Jug. I don't take Exactas though. Perhaps I should think about it. |
Gday Ed,
In my opinion regal roller will get to 3s, theres quite a few others I think they will come for here. I totally agree and am a huge roller fan that he is the one to beat but 2.60 is too short for me. I also agree that our smokin joe is a big danger and is sure to run a race but I also raise a little concern towards lad of the manor. He has won twice first up from three attempts and from all accounts is fit and ready. I will also be including fields of omagh at big odds, looks fitter and better than ever and wouldnt be too suprised to see him around the mark. Great race and cant wait to see the outcome. I for one believe there will be 3s for the roller but who knows?????? |
Yeh he won easy Mav, he never challenged Vic for the lead and it definately helped both of their causes, was just a matter of if he pulled or not and he raced well and was never in doubt, heard they bet $3 on track, huge odds.
I am going to have a large wager on the Roller whatever price he gets to, especially on the heavy track, he's a star. Also might have a little running double Rc 5 no 12 into Rc6 no 4, 2 absolute stars of the track. Will wait for Sunday i think that Tasman Trader is a certainty and will post why tommorow. |
Started looking over the Caulfield card for Sat. (Our Fri. night) and it really does look like a very exciting day. I will definitely be playing the Aussies tonight after I took home to HUGE exacta savers at Saratoga yesterday. A Dynaformer who had just broken his maiden on turf coupled with a South African import (Jacarandi Jane) from Team VAlor Stables came back @$350 for $2 (odds of 10-and 9-1). My main play ran out but who cares. In the race before that, I played the front end speed on the turf (as it is holding on the inner turf-a RARE occurence) and got Ramon Dominguez to will a $9.00 horse home through the stretch being chase by no less than 6 closers. Luckily the Santos ridden 10 got up for 2nd at 30-1 and created a $430 exacta! I had both of these but gave a substantial bit back. Still came out way on top for the day so I have a bankroll for the weekend. Saratoga and Caulfield here I come! I hate to ramble about American racing here guys but I figure it may give you an edge come Breeder's Cup or Dubai Cup. Remember Ramon Dominguez. He is a young rider who has all the skills of the best and I mean Jerry Bailey, Gary Stevens, Chris McCarron, Franki Dettori, Kieran Fallon, best but still gets a nice price due to his stature as a small track(Delaware Park- my home track) rider. All the trainers and all the other riders know who he is. He won the Breeder's Cup Turf on Better Talk Now last year and gets all of Graham Motion's mounts. He always gives it his all so remember you heard it hear first when he becomes THE American jockey in a couple of years. He'll be switching his tack to New York sometime soon.
Is it raining cats and dogs at Caulfield and/or Randwick today? I hear the talk about the heavy going and the weather site I got on had all these severe weather warnings posted. ANy info on how these tracks play towards closers or speed and on heavy going? Looking at the form for Randwick it looks like closers have the edge to me. I looked at the Randwick 1A and I might take a flyer on Agua Corriendo as he might like the extra furlong if he can take to the heavy and use Jon Ron, Hassle(fav?), and High Cee(could get the whole thing at a nice price with Boss aboard). Do you think Boss had the choice between Sir Craiglee and High Cee in this race? In the US this happens alot and reflects the horses readiness and since High Cee looked pretty good in his return since April, he could be sitting on a big one. Just one Yankee's opinion. |
If Avenger is lirking sometime today, Dominguez rides a Scott Lake (Del Park trainer- this is the combo that took the 6th yesterday) claimer in the 3rd at Saratoga Friday. VROOM HILDA (#5) ran two good seconds after a layoff from May. She was scratched from same type race earlier this week as Lake already had a runner in there. Dominguez has been riding like wildfire but getting so unlucky to not have about ten more wins. He keeps getting beat a nose(no discredit to him- he's usually the one flying through the lane) like in the Saratoga feature yesterday. This one may have been his fault as the winner came from the clouds and Ramon probably thought he had it. The first mistake I've seen him make all meet. Use #4 MAIN STREAM and #2 CHUNK OF LOVE with this Ontario bred. Unless it is an off-track (really off as they have had NO rain at this meet) then turn your attention to BEHRNIK #6 who loves it off (7-2-2-3). Tough call on Vroom Hilda's off track class. Good Luck if you play. Also, meet's leading trainer Todd Pletcher who has been mired in a huge slump the last two weeks looks like the winner in the featured 8th race on the turf. Grade 2 mile and an 1/8 should be perfect trip from rail for READY"S GAL #1 (More Than Ready). Use with #6 Victory Lap(scares me for some reason) and #4 Naissance Royal( first start iin NA for Clement and this G1 and G3 placed filly in France(Giant's Causeway-Net Worth- a Forty Niner dam).

Randwick will be a good track, Caulfield Slow to Heavy. Boss may have had the choice of rides but it may not have had much to do with prospects for this race. High Cee is a cups type horse which will be runnng in bigger races in the spring. I doubt Sir Craiglee will, so Boss may have wanted to stick with High Cee looking to the future. |
High Cee may run in higher class races but he sure doesn't do anything in 'em. It looks like he fits right in with this group and if he runs to his potential and class, on paper he looks like a value if anywhere near his morning line in my program of 12-1. He doesn't look to like Randwick, though those races were against much better. If they do have bigger things in store for your spring campaign, I hope he'll be all out. I hope The Avenger got down on VROOM HILDA as she won paying $4.40 to win while my 2nd and 3rd picks came right in that order for a $27 exacta and a $130? Trifecta. Of course I didn't get down on him as my boss had me tied up at work (the nerve of him). Oh well I'll try to get down on READY's GAL in the 8th or save my bankroll for OZ.
|
Of course my second horse ran up the track at Saratoga behind the classy French filly Naisance Royale(IRE) and Victory Lap (third). I wonder if this filly is here for the Breeder's Cup filly and mare turf? A Giant's Causeway paying $11.40? Sacre Bleu!! And some jock named Dominguez won the 7th (and 3rd) aboard a $15 winner sired by Royal Academy. Leave him out come Breeder's Cup day at your own discretion (or any big day for that matter). I feel sorry for the rest of the jockeys in US when he starts to ride all the favorites like Bailey, Prado, and Velazquez. By the way, Kitten's Joy is headed to the Arc if all goes well. He better stay there and leave the Breeder's Cup to the Europeans as our turf horses are down this year. ALINGHI is working gangbusters at Saratoga in preparation for her American debut on the dirt. She seems to have taken to the dirt seeing as their is a rumour that she was running around the backside when she got away from Bobby Frankel's people. They deny it. Surprise! Rinky Dink(AUS) is in the 7th at Del Mar tonight (friday 10:00 EDT) Right after the first at Randwick. OY OY

Got a few for today.
DARWIN. *LOADED VICE. There should be a bit of speed on here with il duca and chilton leading them away hard. Loaded vice to get the sit in behind them, both frontrunners to pull wide on the turn and the Vice to flash home along the rails. Pretty confident here, should be $4+. ADELAIDE *BARABBA ROAD. I really liked the way he ran home last time behind maduro. Will be much fitter for it and should thrive on the extra journey. Will not be suprised to see on a juene run a race at big odds. MELBOURNE *EVIL MASTER. Struggled to get in clear last run then Ran home impreesively for win same track same distance. Is drawn well, not that it really matters as he should sit back and with the 3kilo claim will be flashing home. Good LUCK to all |

Oops. Sorry. Got a bit carried away with this one. :o I'd suggest the track must have been against her and the race was perhaps a bit short. She finished it off okay, so I hope she looks okay for the future. I had her picked out as a show in the Caulfield Cup! |
I tried to list just one horse in some of the races today. Bad move. I almost always back more than one runner per race, so I really should have posted ALL of my selections.Thought Irongail was the only danger in Mystery City's race today and as it turned out, it was incredible value. Should have posted that for you guys.
|
I think Courts in Session and Lotteria are the two REALLY BIG specials today...had them in an allup together with a big outlay
|
My main win selections haven't really gone well today, by I've had a GREAT day with multiples.
Kicking myself for not taking a first 4 on the Liston as it wasn't really that hard to get, but with Regal Roller missing out, it's paid $5234!!! Had the trifecta though which was good. Got a few other nice paying trifectas as well. A good day!!! :) |
A few for a lazy Sunday
Sunny Coast Lana Belle e/w Chevron Island (very confident) Uncle Shamos (watch betting moves here) Taree Spectacular trim StyxnDaggers Sandown Tasman Trader (keep safe Sandbelt) Wagga Petrol Head Kalgoolie Cracker Thunder |
Don't worry about Sand Belt Mav, just back Tasman Trader, huge run last start when wide the first mile then had to take a sit, looked in trouble 500m out but fought back very strongly to run second behind princess Tiffany. The horse that run 4th was Sutology who looked to have its chance and it absolutely bolted in at the Valley during the week. I hope D Moor takes a sit tommorrow and if he does Tasman has the fitness, class, and score on the board to absolutely overrun them in the last 400m, anythimg over $3.00 is a top bet.
Brainpower was v. strong against Wild Classic last time, but just lacked the fitness, and i think the extra distance on the very heavy track will sort it out tommorrow. Also Gunza Magilla ran a much improved race last start, he's a plodder but is very strong and if he can dictate terms; which he should be able to, he will take a lot of catching. It was a good day today, obviously without being spectacular, good luck tommorrow. Well done L2B, i hope you got the quinella in the Liston, trife and F4 wouldn't have been hard to find either leaving out the fave. |
Thanks Ed, did have a decent outlay on lad of the manor and had the tri a few times great day of racing. Ended up not betting on emlozza which was very hard but it proved right what I pointed out in STIX thread. Loaded vice was the biggest bet of today and I hope someone got on!!!!!
Beers on me, lets have a crack 2morrow!! |
Have a couple in today that I've been waiting for. Just worried that plenty of other punters may have been waiting for them too. :o
Bairnsdale Race 3-8 SPECIALSTARZ*. Trialled VERY impressively at Cranbourne last week. Zabeel 3yo trained by Moody having it's first start. Top chance. Price might be a problem though. Viva La Covert a possible danger. (8,9 - 5,4,3,12) Sandown Race 5-3 SARRERA*. Very promising. Easy 5 length winner on a heavy track at Geelong last time. Has previously run close seconds to Noble Red & Tick By. As with Specialstarz, the price could be a bit short. King Johannes a possible danger. (3,5 - 1,2,10) Other races: Sandown Race 7-7 TASMAN TRADER, 6 Gunza Magilla, 2 Danerette (7,6,2,4 - 8,5) Sandown Race 8-9 DREAM LASS, 8 We Can't Say That, 2 Cherie Berrie Bee (9,8,2,13 - 7,14) |
Thanks Sportz, Maverick. Tips are usually slim here on Sunday racing. I appreciate you sharing them. If anything else comes to mind at Sandown, please post. Wagga is our other track today.
Regards, Glenn |
Okay, if you want another one:
I think Sandown R2-3 Pure Harmony should be hard to beat. A good recent trial performance and top form last time in. (3,1,2) Don't normally like betting in small fields though. Sorry Glenn, don't really have anything for Wagga. |
I found a few at wagga for you Glenn, I might have a small go on them also :).
WAGGA RACE 3 #2 REGIONAL EXPRESS - GOOD FORM DOESN'T MIND THE TRACK AND DISTANCE SHOULD BE IN WITH A GOOD CHANCE RACE 5 #2 SONG OF ERIN - CONSISTANT PERFORMER SHOULD BE TO GOOD RACE 7 #6 ZAKYNTHOS OLIVES - WON MDN LAST START BY 4L AT TRACK AND DISTANCE SHOULD CONTIUE AND WIN ANOTHER |
Maybe one day someone can teach me to handicap the hurdle races. The #1 horse in the 1st at Sandown was beaten by 11 lengths last out, then he wins there. Tough race, I thought, but bet down to 5/2 here.
Glenn |
Now you see why I didn't include Pure Harmony amongst my original set of tips. Disappointing!!! :o
|
Yes, disappointing, Sportz. Thanks for the Wagga picks, Racing novice. I had the 2-8 quinella in the first race at Wagga, and my TAB had the #8 at 30-1.
The #2 horse Onballer (a RIDGLING I suppose?) was only 9/5 however. Regards, Glenn |
Onballer Glenn, not oneballer! :D
Onballer is a term used in Aussie Rules Football. |
I've had a tip for Braeloch Sandown 7-1...not sure how reliable it will be though. I know this is not racing, but i've also had a tip for Mcraes Mate Cranbourne 7-1.....should win but could be short?
Other than that i like Sandown 5-3 Sarrera Taree 7-1 Leg Irons Sunshine Coast 4-2 Omnitrader |
HAHA. Well, I really didn't know that Sportz, too funny. Thanks Chuck. I got a really sweet quinella payoff of nearly $70 in Wagga race 3.
Good luck, all. Glenn |
Taking the $2 unit into account, that's more than double what it paid here.
