Hey guys great to see people talking about perth racing i am a bit of a fan over here on the east coast.Just a quick question if someone could help out and answer that would be great.I often wonder which way the wind blows in regard to the race course over at belmont because they always seem to come home alot quicker then they go out in races. So could some body tell me which way the wind hits them is it in the back straight or the side or is it the home straight and do they have a tail wind on any part of the track any help would be great guys and once again keep up the good posts.
|
New to the forum but have been lurking for a while.
Being from the west good to see this dedicated thread. Some pretty good tipsters as well. Not been to Belmont for a while but recall you would run south east’ish in back straight and north west’ish in home straight. If wind from the coast would imagine most effect (wind assistance) in latter stages of back straight and most of turn approaching the straight. Having said that last few occasions at Belmont have been spent mostly under cover skipping between the bookie ring and the bar, so who knows anything (weather wise) could have been happening outside for all I know  Ascot’s probably more prone to the wind factor, but that’s another story and another bar  |
Normally the jockey factor rather than the wind the prince. I don't really blame them. If you can get away with slow early sectionals why not.

Thoughts go out to relatives and friends of young apprentice Adrian Chan.
Apprenticed to trainer Fred Kersley, was having only his seventh race ride, when he fell at the Carnarvon Race Club meeting on Saturday. Sustaining severe head injuries was placed on life support, but tragically failed to regain consciousness and died this morning. Sad news indeed.
|
That terrible news. We are reminded once again just how dangerous the jockey trade can be. They deserve all the rewards they can get.
|
Very tragic.
Vale Adrian Chan. |
Less sombre note Glenn Smith failed in his appeal yesterday against a two-month ban and $2000 fine for causing severe interference in the Belmont Guineas.
|
No news Harvey appeal?
|
No news Paddy perhaps had 2nd thoughts

Very small moment of fame Paddy, I think you’ll find the top-weight has been scratched. Something about the jockey being excessively overweight!

William Pike will shortly commence a 12 day enforced holiday for careless riding at Belmont on Wednesday. Another one bites the dust!
