After disastrous week 10, when pretty much everyone had trouble tipping, six of the last seven value bets have been winners. Both value bets were winners during week 14, thanks to the Blues and Hurricanes. Profit on turnover has improved from being negative after week 10 to being 40% after week 14.

There is a good reason why we take averages. My 20 year average profit on turnover is 14%. I had a 40% POT before week 15. POT is now back to 14% after a not-so-good week 15. Here are my predictions for week 16.

I was away for a week so I was unable to send week 17 predictions. I’ve caught up. For the last 14 matches, my favorite won 12, lost 1 and tied 1. The Crusaders are also finishing strong with the third highest point difference in the Super 15 table and my second highest rating. Unfortunately, they will watch the finals on TV after too many losses.

Super 15 Qualifying Finals
 

Good riddance that the last week of the regular season is over. As usual, it’s obvious that some teams cared and some didn’t. That’s why there were five upsets in seven matches. Now it gets interesting. The season comes down to the next three weeks.

Super 15 semifinals
 

The semifinals have a nice symmetry. We have two Australia-New Zealand matchups, one in each country. The semifinalists are four of my five highest ranked teams. The Crusaders are computer-ranked second but had too many close losses, so they will watch the matches with the rest of us.

I will be away after this week so I’ll miss giving you my finals prediction. It’s been a wild season. I’ll see you all again next season.
