On a tough day we rated 13 races from Rosehill, Moonee Valley and Eagle Farm for 6 Top Four winners.

At Rosehill Chatham House ran 4th. starting at $4.60. Lucky Lil gave 1 tip at Moonee Valley and 1 tip at Eagle Farm. Both started at huge double figure odds and were unplaced.

Lucky Lil did not give a Lay of the Day this week.

In Moonee Valley R6 there was a $485.30 Trifecta (top 5.)

We rated 12 races from Randwick, Caulfield and Doomben for 7 Top Four winners and found an excellent First Four.

Lucky Lil's 2 tips in the Caulfield Cup found Dandino, $11.00, which ran second. Lucky Lil's other tip at Caulfield started at huge double figure odds and ran down the track. One tip at Randwick started well below the $4.00 that Lucky Lil wants.

Lucky Lil's Lay of the Day, Index Linked, unfortunately won at Randwick, starting at $3.40.

The highlight was the First Four in Caulfield R6 (top 5) that paid $2,041.10.

Lucky Lil gave 3 tips and again didn't have much luck with Divine Calling, backed in from $17.00 at Caulfield, finishing a close second. Vacallo started at $4.20 and ran third at Doomben.

Lucky Lil's Lay of the Day, Volkhere, did the right thing for us by failing to run a place, however it was $4.80 compared to Lucky Lil's suggested "lay" odds of around $3.00.

Lucky Lil gave 3 tips and once again the run of seconds and bad luck etc. continued. Streama, $4.60, finished second by a nose at Randwick while Catkins, starting at $6.00, finished third of 16 at Flemington. Lucky Lil's other tip, Metaphorical, started at huge double figure odds and was unplaced at Flemington.

Lucky Lil's Lay of the Day, Politeness, started as a $2.60 favourite at Flemington and finished seventh. So we were winners.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
