We rated 22 races. There were eight winners on top and 12 winners in the top two.

In the Cox Plate our top selection, Zipping, ran second to Maldivian, which was able to steal the race due to the farcically slow pace that jockey Michael Rodd was allowed to get away with.

Bauble $5.20 (in a field of seven.)

Third rated winners:
Vintage Rock $9.50 offered some value at Rosehill in a field of just eight.

Caulfield Cup Day

We rated 17 races. There were two winners on top, six winners in the top two and 10 winners in the top four.

We think it was a pretty good effort to have the the $51.90 Caulfield Cup winner All The Good fifth rated. In an open event like the Caulfield Cup, we know some punters looking for value had a few dollars on All The Good when it was rated that high. .

Sleek Repeat $9.00 bet at Eagle Farm was an excellent winner for us.

Third/fourth rated winners:
Third rated Alamosa $11.00 in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield and Barker Lad, $10.20 at Cheltenham, offered some value.

Longshots:
Some members may have had a few dollars on Opter at Rosehill which won starting at $21.00.

Caulfield R6 $15,301.00 first four (3rd. rated horse won, 2nd to 4th. placegetters in the ratings. A share of this was gettable going a little wide in a race like the Toorak Handicap and using FlexiBet.)

We rated 19 races. The ratings held up fairly well at Randwck which had been assessed for a Good/Dead track, but was downgraded to Slow after R2. There were four winners on top, ten winners in the top two and 13 winners in the top three. There was a bit of value around this week.

Littorio $9.70 at Flemingon was a great bet to take on the short priced favourite Weekend Hussler.

Lorne Dancer $5.00 at Randwick in a field of nine may have been backed by some members.

In our newsletters here we have at times indicated how some first fours and trifectas could have been obtained. However on racedays some judgement and skill are needed for this.

For example the same betting method will not work each race, such as boxing selections, or taking the top horse as a standout to win. Some races will also need to be avoided because the odds are not there.

Even with good information playing trifectas and first fours is not a licence to print money. Intelligent use of the information and a lot of discipline is required.

While there can be substantial collects for relatively small outlays there can also be long runs of outs with various betting methods used.
