Make Money Betting Horses
Many astute punters use a simple horse racing betting system to back plenty of winners at excellent odds, as well as successfully betting trifectas, first fours, doubles etc. They simply note the key runs of a few select horses each week and black book them. Then betting smart, they follow them.
Each week we will give some runs worth noting by horses from Saturday's racing. Keep a record of the horses, bet smart and you too could back some big winners.

Good things beaten and bad luck stories

Here are the latest horses to be added to our Horse Watch list.
Moonee Valley - W. S. Cox Plate Day
Governance:
This 3YO colt, ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, started at $21.00. Between the 400 and the 200 Governance was badly held up for a run. Then approaching the home turn Governance had to be eased by McEvoy as it couldn't get a run between Yes Sir Yes Sir and La Bella Encosta. Despite this bad luck in running Governance finished a close second, beaten only half a length by the very short priced $1.65 favourite, Avenue. The racing gods certainly smiled on the punters who took the $1.65 on Avenue.
Ortensia:
Trained by Tony Noonan, this 4YO mare didn't have much luck when it finished a close fourth, beaten only a length by Apache Cat. Passing the 400 Ortensia was held up and then again in the short Moonee Valley straight Ortensia had difficulty in getting a run. With normal luck in running Ortensia might well have won.
Light Fantastic:
Don't dismiss the run of the smart 5YO gelding, Light Fantastic, in the same race. Light Fantastic was only beaten two lengths by Apache Cat after being given a very wide run by jockey Craig Newitt who just couldn't get a position.
