Rosehill
Mentality:
On April 22 this John Hawkes' trained gelding won the 2YO Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick. He was then sent for a spell. Returning as a 3YO on Saturday, he lugged 61kg. and won the 3YO Listed The Run to the Rose Handicap over 1300 metres at Rosehill. Mentality looks set for a big campaign this time in.
Caulfield
De Lago Mist:
De Lago Mist ran four top races in a row in March and April this year, including winning the Group 2 V R C Sires' Produce Stakes at Flemington and finishing a very unlucky fourth in the Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick. Returning from a spell, David Hayes' 3YO filly showed she will be a force to be reckoned with, running a close fourth in Fillies Listed company over 1100 metres. Boom filly La Vie Amour won the race.
Haradasun:
Get on the Haradasun bandwagon. On June 10 he won his first race, a 2YO Victorian provincial Open at Swan Hill, by 10 lengths. Resuming at Caulfield over 1100 metres in the 3YO Colts & Geldings Listed Vain Stakes, he was near last at the 400 and finished right over the top of them, winning in very smart time.
Pompeii Ruler:
This lightly raced 4YO gelding caused a huge upset. Resuming from a spell of nearly seven months he won the Group 2 Weight for Age J J Liston Stakes. That win must put him right up in Caulfield Cup calculations.
