Rosehill
Mastermind:
Despite starting from a wide barrier, this Bruce McLachlan trained 3YO gelding treated the older horses with contempt, winning by four lengths. He runs fast time and has won six of seven starts. Look out for this smart 3YO to win some big races.
Newton's Rings:
This smart 4YO has been taking all before him. Last Saturday he comfortably won a Welter. He has been well placed by trainer and part owner Jeff Englebrecht and now has the outstanding record of eight wins and five seconds from just 17 starts.
Sandown Lakeside
Perpugilliam:
Peter Moody's 3YO filly lost no fans with a gutsy second to Last Goodbye. Apprentice jockey Ben Melham also lodged a protest which was dismissed. Perpugilliam is at peak fitness and ready to win next start; she has an excellent strike rate of four wins and two seconds from seven starts.
Ipswich
Startled Hunter:
Starting at big odds, this 2YO colt put in a run worth noting. In only his second race he finished second, beaten a long neck by Top Gun Lane.
Cheltenham
Dinkum Star:
This Don Magick trained 2YO filly could have a future. She beat the boys in fine style. She was also very competitive in two Black Type races last month.
