We report on some of the noteworthy runs from Saturday's racing.
This column is updated every week. Keep a record of the horses to
back some big winners.
Here are the latest runners to be added
to our Horse Watch list.
Caulfield 19/9/2004
Classiconi:
We wrote about this 3YO gelding last week. At Caulfield he put in another big run, placing behind Tirade and boom colt Fastnet Rock.
Ballet Society:
This Pat Hyland trained filly showed she was not just a winter wet tracker. She ran a great second, three lengths ahead of the next filly, in Group 3 fillies' company.
Our Egyptian Raine:
This 6YO mare is going to play her part during the Spring carnival. Her first up run in Group 1 Handicap company over 1400 metres was huge. She finished second behind Regal Roller.
Rosehill 18/9/2004
Red Oog:
A top first up run by this honest 5YO gelding. He just went down to Taikun and Star Of Florida.
Prisoner Of Love:
This Guy Walter trained filly was too good again for Wager, Covertly and Our Sweet Moss. She just keeps getting better.
Vouvray:
She won the Group 1 Queensland Oaks at big odds in June this year. That win was no fluke, as second up at Rosehill in Group 2 Weight for Age company this 4YO mare ran a huge race, going down by just a head to Natural Blitz.
Morphettville 18/9/2004
Lawson's Storm:
A real heartbreak horse. This 5YO gelding usually gets well back and flies home, often encountering trouble, and usually just missing out. His first up run in Group 2 weight for Age company was just like that. He flew home and finished fourth, 0.7 lengths from the winner, Sky Cuddle.
While Lawson's Storm has only had four wins from 25 starts, it's worth noting his record at Morphettville. It's an outstanding four wins and five placings from 12 starts - and of course Saturday's close fourth.
