Second up this John Hawkes trained 4YO gelding had difficulty getting a clear run in the straight until too late, and stormed home, the best of good things beaten. Dismissal will be fitter and ready to win next start.
Caulfield
Niconero:
A lightly raced 3YO gelding. Tony McEvoy brought him over from Adelaide primed for a first up win at Caulfield. Leading jockey Damien Oliver didn't disappoint with a classy ride to win. Niconero ran the last 600 in the smart time of 33.69 seconds.
Doomben
Willy Leica:
He was an outstanding winner over 2020 metres. Willy Leica looks a Derby horse.
Minassi:
From barrier nine Scott Seamer took Minassi to the lead and was never headed.This promising 3YO gelding is undefeated in three starts.
