Many astute punters use a simple horse racing betting system to back plenty of winners at excellent odds, as well as successfully betting trifectas, first fours, doubles etc. They simply note the key runs of a few select horses each week and black book them. Then betting smart, they follow them.

Sandown Hillside - Sandown Guineas Day

Demerit:
Peter Snowden's promising 4YO horse was sent out the $3.50 favourite in a Group 3 handicap over 1500 metres and was trapped wide throughout. Demerit finished second to Larry's Never Late by a short head and was a good thing beaten.

Booklet:
This Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra trained 3YO filly didn't have much luck when finishing third to Zelsnitz. Booklet has been a model of consistency and has yet to miss a place from here six starts.

Rosehill

Military Secret:
This Mark de Montfort trained 4YO gelding has been a model of consistency until, starting at $11.00, it finished fifteenth of 16 at Rosehill over 1200 metres. However Military Secret was crowded for room shortly after the horses jumped. Unsettled, and with the pace falling away, Military Secret overraced in the middle stages of the race and had to be restrained, continually checking off heels. Then to top this off Military Secret was held up early in the straight. Forget that Military Secret ever went around.
