to our Horse Watch list.
Randwick
Loftily:
After being heavily supported in the betting ring from $2.30 to $2.00 this filly was disappointing. She weakened and finished third. She has now had two runs this campaign and should be ready to show something next start. Loftily still has an outstanding strike rate - six wins and five placings from 13 starts.
Alike:
A promising 2YO gelding trained by John Hawkes. He followed a 2.8 lengths win at Sandown with a comfortable win at Randwick by 1.5 lengths. That is now two wins from three career starts.
Rationalize:
Another John Hawkes' trained conveyance. After a soft 3.8 lengths win in restricted 3YO fillies company, she stepped up to Saturday 3YO Class 6 company, led throughout and won.
Flemington
Wildly:
This 3YO gelding returned from a spell and was an impressive first up winner in 3YO Listed company for his new trainer, John McArdle. While he can handle all track conditions, Wildly excels in rain affected going.
Eagle Farm
Perfect Promise:
What a first up run in the $1,000,000 Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap by this 5YO mare. From well back in the field she made up many lengths to finish second to St. Basil. Perfect Promise is a Group 1 winner in South Africa. A Group 1 win here is certainly not beyond her.
Morphettville
Mt Billy:
Talk about being costly. This 4YO gelding has been sent out as favourite at five of his last six starts and lost them all. Mind you there have been plenty of excuses - and four seconds. At Morphettville as $2.60 favourite he was beaten a nose by King's Arch, but was also 3.5 lengths ahead of the next runner. Don't dismiss Mt Billy. It's just possible plenty of punters will and then he will come out and win at bigger odds.
