Understanding the tables
Tote: This is the tote payout price for
a dollar bet and includes your dollar.
SP: This is the bookmakers' starting price of the horse
which is the price most commonly available in the betting ring just before
the horses jump.
TF: This is the top fluctuation ( best price ) most commonly
available about the horse in the bookmakers' betting ring. Better prices
are often available.
Bookmaker Profit/Loss: This shows how your $100 winning bet
fared with the bookmakers at starting price (SP) and top fluctuation (TF)
in the betting ring compared with the tote price.
For example:
- 50 in the Bookmaker Profit/Loss column to the right
of SP means your $100 winning bet with the bookmaker won $50 less at starting
price than the same size bet on the tote.
+ 50 in the Bookmaker Profit/Loss column to the right
of TF means your $100 winning bet with the bookmaker won $50 more
at top fluctuation (the top price most commonly available in the betting
ring) than the same size bet on the tote.

A not surprising result at Moonee Valley in the winter,
where on a leader dominated track most of the races were won by
horses around double figure odds.
