He had a massive top weight of 64.5kg. and was carrying 10kg. more than the next runner in the field of 10. He had to be one of the worst possible bets at Randwick, but that didn't stop a plunge from $9.00 right into $5.00. Century Kid never looked like a winner and finished a well beaten seventh. Tent $1.50 place bet This John Hawkes' trained 2YO gelding had raced twice in Melbourne. At his first start on April 21 he finished 12/13, beaten by 6.5 lengths. At his next start on May 11 he finished 8/9, beaten by 14.6 lengths. He was then taken to Sydney. On form you couldn't have him. He was still kept relatively
safe with $9.00 bet about him in the bookmakers' betting ring. He managed
to finish third in the field of nine. Tent paid as little as $1.50 for
