With winter just about here, Slow and Heavy rated tracks will become much more common. Weight carried becomes even more important than on Good tracks. It is tougher for horses racing on rain affected tracks. That's why the times are so much slower.

We noticed some very interesting stats from last Saturday's meeting at Victoria Park, held on a Slow rated track.

Of the eight winners, six carried a handicapped weight of 52kg, another had 52.5kg. and the eighth had 53kg.

How did the well supported horses carrying a bit more weight go? Here are the results. They don't make pretty reading:
