29/11/2002 edition Betting System Have you noticed how sportspeople in team sports often have a new lease of life when they go to a new club? How that footballer whose career was going nowhere starts to play good football again with a new club? Horses are no different. A change in environment and training methods can do wonders for a horse. That's why it pays to be very wary about a horse who is having its first start with a new trainer. If the horse is first up from a spell and has no previous first up form that should also be ignored, particularly if the new trainer is noted for preparing horses for first up wins. We couldn't help but notice the winners of the last two races at Morphettville last Saturday: 6YO mare Umanoola was unplaced at her five previous first up runs. She was now trained on the track and first up from spell of seven months. She had her first start for new trainer Mark Kavanagh, and won. She paid $78.40 for the win on the New South Wales tote. In the next race French Revolution, a 5YO mare, was also now trained on the track and also first up from spell of seven months. She had placed once in her three previous first up runs. She had her first start for new trainer Jim Wilson, and won. She paid $55.00 for the win on the New South Wales tote. This edition of Punt to Win: Copyright ©1998-present. OZmium Pty. Ltd.
