In the 2YO Fillies Open at Morphettville she was up two kilos to 56kg., had barrier 11 and was sent out as $3.00 favourite in the 13 horse event. There were also six unraced fillies, all unknown quantities, in the race from leading stables like Hawkes, McEvoy, Hall and Balfour.

Snippets' Belle settled well back in the field and never looked a winning chance. She ran on strongly for second.

Favourites' backers who lost on Snippets' Belle then bet up big in the next race at Morphettville. They sent out Corps Commander as the $1.50 favourite in the 1050 metres Open Handicap on the strength of his excellent first up second behind Romilada in a Listed event at the same track on May 21.

However Corps Commander did have a four kilos weight increase to 56kg. It was also a six horse field and once again a small field produced an upset result. Our Horse Watch runner Star Hit won and paid $9.60. Corps Commander, who finished third, should never have been as short as $1.50

At Eagle Farm he had barrier 16 of 17 in a $100,000 2YO Listed race over 1400 metres. He burst out of the barriers to lead, never had any peace and still won by two lengths.

The New South Wales tote was showing $2.30 at the jump. Despite the win shocking value considering the barrier and the number of runners in the field.

The next race at Eagle Farm, the 1500 metres Group 3 Winter Stakes for fillies and mares saw an outstanding effort by three year old filly Dynamic Love.

In the 19 horse field she started from the widest barrier, 19. Despite that she had the early speed to work to the lead. She was grabbed on the line by Porto Roca. It was an outstanding run considering she also carried 57kg.

Dynamic Love's run was far superior to Porto Roca, who had barrier nine. If the barriers were reversed Dynamic Love would have been an easy winner.

Porto Roca was also poor value. With a five kilos weight rise to 57.5kg. punters on SuperTab got $2.70 for backing her in the 19 horse field. With odds like that no wonder many punters don't win long term.

Talk about punters feeling robbed. At Randwick in a 2YO Fillies event over 1400 metres Stylish Lass led comfortably and had the race shot to pieces at the 200. The $2.35 favourite then got the staggers and $71.00 bolter Puzzle Book finished right over the top of her.

Stylish Lass may well not carry weight. She won her previous start 10 days earlier by over seven lengths carrying only 53kg. The 2.5kg. weight rise to 55.5kg. was her undoing. With 53kg. she would have probably been a very convincing winner.

The rule of thumb that 1.5kg. equals one length is just that, a guide and a very rough guide at that.

In the same race Magical Miss was also very short at $3.50. She rose in weight from 54kg. to 56kg. as well as getting a poor barrier, eight. She was a well beaten third.
