28/10/2006 edition Tawqeet Wins 2006 Caulfield Cup Melbourne Cup betting form race The Caulfield Cup has stood the test of time as a great form race for providing great betting tips for Melbourne Cup winners and placegetters. The win of the David Hayes' trained Tawqeet in this year's Melbourne Cup means the 4YO entire has a great chance of winning this year's Melbourne Cup. He has won up to 2800 metres and has the right English form to be a Melbourne Cup winner. Other notable runs in the Caulfield Cup were by: Delta Blues - A classy third by this 6YO Japanese entire, who was wide throughout. He probably would have won the Caulfield Cup if it went for another 50 metres. The 3200 metres of the Melbourne Cup will be no worries as he has won over 3600 metres. Pop Rock - A massive run by this 6YO Japanese entire. Looked like he would mow them down at the 400, then was badly held up in the straight. He was unplaced, but only 1.5 lengths from the winner. Pop Rock has only won up to 2500 metres. Activation - Outstanding jockey Michael Rodd's error of judgement in the straight meant Tawqeet got the winning run that could have been Activation's. It also cost Activation at least a few lengths. Activation finished fourth, one length behind Tawqeet. What else happened on Caulfield Cup Day?
