Sport 927 Betting Promotion

Last week Racing Victoria's new track preparation policy meant the Caulfield racetrack was watered solidly early in the week and the forecast of rain later in the week was ignored. When the rain arrived we ended up with a genuine, badly rain affected, Slow rated track with no chance of being upgraded. (Compare that with Randwick where despite heavy rain, the track was upgraded to Dead on Saturday.)

The $1,000,000 2YO Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes was held last Saturday. On the morning of the race one of the Sport 927 horse racing panel said:

"We've got the extra variable with the weather and the track, so a very exciting day."

Really? We thought the Caulfield meeting last Saturday was a terrible betting affair. What should have been said was:

"We've got the extra variable with the weather and the track, so it's a very tough betting day. Go careful and either don't bet or bet very small in races like the Blue Diamond where horses do not have wet track form."

When will we be told that by the Radio Sport 927 horse racing tipping panel? Sure, we know they're trying to help us to pick a winner. How about also helping us to avoid a loser? Knowing when not to bet is just as important as knowing when to bet.

Unfortunately, with racing media business connections to TABs, the racing media appears to be just another way of promoting betting on the respective TABs.
