26/7/2014 edition Horse Racing Win Betting on Tote Firmers Subscribe to the free Pro-Punter Newsletter for: How often do punters hear, "There's been a big go for this horse." They the punters rush to back it on the tote. An example we have always remembered as a great betting lesson was at Morphettville quite a few years ago. On track Kyshnaha was solidly backed and firmed from $11.00 to start at $6.50 with the bookies. Tote punters, no doubt well informed about the money coming in on track for Kyshnaha, saw the tote price flashing in front of them, indicating a tote firmer and so they joined the party by plunging money on this "good thing." Kyshnaha won the 15 horse race. So no doubt the tote punters were pleased. But: The best tote odds were $4.20, the lowest a paltry $3.80. This is a prime example of why win betting tote "firmers" should not be done. You cannot accept win odds of $3.80 about a horse which has a starting price of $6.50 after being $11.00 and seriously expect to be a winner at horse racing over the long term. Getting such massive unders on your winners is a guaranteed way of losing money over the long term. As no one gives you regular refunds on your losing bets you have to squeeze out the maximum odds you can get when you back winners, not get $3.80 when $11.00 was available. This edition of Punt to Win: On Saturday, 23rd. November, our tipster gave followers Padrino, a $51.00 winner and the Free Ratings found a $19,048.40 First Four at Eagle Farm!!
