20/6/2003 edition Betting Tips from the Trainer Watch out for that winning jockey One of the biggest tips you can get in racing is when a trainer puts the most recent winning jockey back on a horse. It often indicates that the trainer believes the horse is ready to win. At Rosehill last Saturday trainer Paul Perry put apprentice Mitchell Bell back on 6YO gelding The Net. Mitchell Bell last rode The Net on March 19. That was the gelding's last win - a restricted race at Randwick. The Net is a handy galloper who came into Saturday's race with 10 wins and six seconds from 39 starts. The Net had been beaten by just over 2 lengths in similar company to Saturday's race one week earlier. So putting Mitchell Bell onto The Net was clearly not a last resort measure with a horse that had lost all form. The Net led all the way from barrier 12 of 14 on Saturday and won by a length. The starting price was $26.00 with tote odds up to $35.30. This edition of Punt to Win: Back Tote Longshots?
