Punt to Win |

Horse Racing Betting Strategy Trifectas - win with odds on winners! As a general rule once a horse is odds on or even money on the tote it will destroy your trifecta. However, if you are very selective, it is still possible to make money selecting the horse to win. But to start with you must also be pretty sure that the odds on horse will win the race! You must also accept that just about every other tote trifecta punter has the horse to win. So if you are going to have any chance of getting value, the horses that finish second and third must not be the same horses that plenty of other tote punters will include. You should also avoid very small fields. The smaller the field, the more likely many punters will have gone odds on favourite to win with the field for second and the field for third. Last Saturday, in the third at Eagle Farm, an 11 horse field, our top rated selection was Stars In Bars. He won the race and paid as low as $1.90 on the New South Wales tote. Our second rated selection was Laminated. He finished third and paid up to $5.20 for the place. Clearly, he was not a popular pick with tote punters. Also in our top six rated selections was French Movie Star. He finished second and paid up to $3.30 for the place on the tote. Again, not an overly popular horse with tote punters. As a result the trifecta paid up to $210 on the Queensland tote. Remember, the most important rule to give yourself a chance to win long term playing trifectas is to have different trifecta combinations from the majority of tote players. If the way you take your trifecta combinations and the horses you include are what the majority of tote punters do, then you will get their long term results, which is a loss of 20%+ on turnover.
