12/8/2006 edition Horse Racing Betting Tips Horse racing handicapping made easy. This week from the forum archives we are copying an excellent post on handicapping by "Equine Investor". Here it is: "Here is a useful system I use for handicapping races. Maiden Class 1 Class 2 You can use this method right up to Open, Listed Races and Group Races. Run some sample results and you would be amazed how close you can get. Pick the top selection in points. Very useful when comparing horses running in say a class four race against horses going up in class and others down in class." "Equine Investor" also gave two other handy tips: 1. "In maiden races where there is little or no exposed form, look for horses where the trainer is part owner of the horse. Often a trainer will buy shares in a horse where they consider it has some ability or bred to win. You may have to follow this horse for a few starts." 2. "When looking at place bets often you can back horses that have won by 2.5 lengths last start if they are not rising in class and they are sometimes not favourite...they start as second or third favourite. These horses have a sensational strike rate if they are not rising in class, not coming back from a spell and the track conditions and distance suit. Posted May 23, 2002. This information is just as relevant today as four years ago and sensibly used will lead you into many excellent winning bets. This edition of Punt to Win: 2005 Melbourne Cup Carnival Winners
