12/7/2002 edition Form Analysis "Gee, that's a price." Here's some more racecaller form analysis and tips. Again we can learn. As the horses were entering the barrier for the seventh at Cheltenham, a Class 6 over 1263 metres, we were told: "Bluestone Villa $5.60. He's better on track, Bluestone Villa. But I reckon he's value on course. He's almost double the each way. Gee, that's a price." Now, was that said enthusiastically! Bluestone Villa, who started at $8.00, had every chance in the race, but died on his run in the straight and finished fifth of 12. Bluestone Villa also never even got a mention in our ratings. The 6YO gelding was a major risk starting from barrier nine of 12 with 57.5kg. At his last start he only carried 52.5kg. Sure, he was down in class, but the weight rise more than compensated for that. Bluestone Villa has not been a good weight carrier. The last time he carried weight, 57kg., in November in a Class 6 at Victoria Park, he had barrier one and finished fifth. From 23 starts he had four wins. The most he carried to victory was 53.5kg. in a maiden. Racecallers' tips provide entertainment value, and spice up the call of races. But we doubt they should be used for serious betting. is just about impossible to get a high enough
strike rate backing short priced tote favourites
and the poor value tote horses to make up for
the big unders on the tote. Short
