1. This 5YO gelding was second up after a break of 19 months.
2. It had only raced 7 times.
3. It ran a good third at Morphettville over the 1500 metres distance of this race in a 3YO Open in March 2012 before its injury enforced 19 months break.
4. First up it was only beaten by 1 length and would most likely improve significantly second up after such a long break.
5. This was only a Rating 85 and Zephyron was on the minimum handicap.
6. Trained by Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes, at the big odds Zephyron was worth a wager.

Moonee Valley winner
Silversands $31.00
1. This 2YO filly ran a solid 3rd. at Morphettville 3 weeks earlier.
2. It was brought to Melbourne by astute trainer Richard Jolly.
3. Silversands was one of only 5 starters in this field of 14 with race experience.
4. At the odds it was worth a spec bet.

Caulfield Cup Day - Saturday, 19th. October, 2013.

Morphettville winner
Cosmic Kheleyf $27.90
1. This 3YO gelding was one of three runners first up from a spell in this small field of six three year olds in a race over 1000 metres.
2. Cosmic Kheleyf was only having its second race start.
3. It came into this race having won a trial at Strathalbyn, suggesting it had improved since its only other race start in May this year.
4. At such generous odds in such a small field it was definitely worth a spec bet.

Randwick winner
Boss Lane $12.00
1. This 3YO gelding was one of two runners first up from a spell in this small field of five three year olds in a race over 1200 metres.
2. Boss Lane had only raced twice, winning its second start by 5 lengths at Canterbury on 26th. June, 2013, before being sent for a spell.
3. First up in this small field, at the odds Boss Lane had to be a great value bet.

Doomben winner
Enquare $11.10
1. This 3YO filly was one of three runners first up from a spell in this field of eight three year olds in a race over 1110 metres.
2. Enquare comfortably won its last race at Eagle Farm, a Listed race, starting as the $2.80 favourite on 22nd June, 2013, before being sent for a spell.
3. First up at the odds Enquare had to be a very good value bet.
