PRESS How Does Your Cup Horse Rate? Big Pat No16 In May this year he won the South Australian Derby over 2500 metres ahead of Bush Padre. He has had six runs this campaign without a win. Big Pat's best performance was finishing seventh to Northerly, beaten by under three lengths in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield, over 1800 metres, on September 23. In the Caulfield Cup he was well back in the field and never looked like winning, but ran on well to finish ninth, beaten by nearly six lengths. At his last start he again ran on strongly in the Moonee Valley Cup and finished third, beaten by four lengths. He will most likely get back in the Cup field and need luck in the straight. Big Pat must also be a query at the distance - running strong 2500 metres races does not guarantee a strong 3200 metres. Reenact No17 This well bred horse (Marscay out of Role, a Gulch mare), spreads his wins few and far between. As a two year old in June last year he won the Group1 Eagle Farm Sires' Stakes over 1400 metres. In May this year Reenact easily won the Group 2 Eagle Farm Grand Prix Stakes over 2200 metres. Reenact has had four runs this time in and done nothing of note. At his last start he finished seventh in the Geelong Cup at odds of $21.00. Others have more appeal. Karasi No18 In May last year he finished second in the 3200 metres Adelaide Cup and in June last year and this year finished third in the 3200 metres Brisbane Cup. At his last start he won the Listed Geelong Cup over 2400 metres, defeating Maythehorsebewithu. A dour stayer, he lacks the class of many of the runners, but at least you know he will get the Cup distance. Maythehorsebewithu No19 After five runs this campaign he is ready to put in a bold run in the Cup. He won a Group 2 at Flemington over 2500 metres on Saturday to get into the field. He also has an excellent record at Flemington with four wins from six starts at the track. A good lightweight chance. Prophet's Kiss No 20 In April this year she ran second in the 3200 metres Sydney Cup to Mr. Prudent. She has been working up to peak fitness this campaign and on Saturday in the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington finished the 2500 metres off very strongly after being last on the home turn. Prophet's Kiss is ready to run a bold race. She lacks the class of many runners but will get the distance. Next
