PRESS How Does Your Cup Horse Rate? Mr. Prudent No11 In April this year carrying only 50.5kg. he won the Sydney Cup over 3200 metres. His Cup lead up form is very ordinary. He finished last of 17 runners in the Listed Geelong Cup at his last start on October 24. Mr. Prudent regularly settles well back in the field. He will not be helped by the barrier, and is likely to be surrounded by horses with nowhere to go when they enter the home straight or have to go very wide to get a run. Pasta Express No12 Last year in the Cup with only 51kg. he settled on the speed and hit the lead at the 800. He weakened in the straight and was beaten by 10 lengths. This year his lead up form is hardly inspiring. He started at $81.00 in the Caulfield Cup and was well beaten. He is entitled to be at huge odds in the Melbourne Cup. Ethereal No13 She won the Queensland Oaks over 2400 metres last year. On October 13 this year she ran a huge Group 1Weight for Age race at Caulfield over 2000 metres, finishing a close third to Northerly and Shogun Lodge. Ethereal then came out and won the Caulfield Cup from Sky Heights and Celestial Show in a driving finish. She has been penalised two kilos for her Caulfield Cup win. Yet to race over 2400 metres, if she handles the distance she will be a huge chance in the Cup. Hill Of Grace No14 Last year Hill Of Grace started at $26.00 and finished a well beaten tenth in the Cup. This year, however, her lead up form has been better, culminating with a very strong run for second last Saturday in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington. With strong lead up form she must be a chance in the race, however her wide barrier is a major disadvantage. Inaflury No15 This moody mare finished third in the 1999 Caulfield Cup. In this year's Caulfield Cup she was the $8.00 favourite and took off round the field very early and set a hectic pace. There was an inquiry into Jim Cassidy's ride. Purchased by Lloyd Williams after the Caulfield Cup, Inaflury put in a solid, but unspectacular run in the Mackinnon Stakes on Saturday. She finished eighth, beaten by over four lengths. She could be in the Cup finish but others make more appeal as winning chances. Next
